The Arsonist's Son

My name is Emma Carter, I'm fifteen, and am living with my mom who has stage 2 lung cancer. My dad died when I was thirteen, and that's when I met Jack.

Two Years Earlier

            Rob Carter kissed his thirteen year old daughter goodbye as she ran off to catch her bus to school. Sadly, they both did not know that this would be the last time they would ever get to do that. He went back inside, sat down, made a cup of black coffee and read the paper till he left for work. His wife, Martha Carter, went to get her PET scan to see if the cancer was still gone. Martha wouldn't get to say goodbye like their daughter did.

            When Mr. Carter got to the station he saw that the screen was saying red alert on Fourth St., which meant that any officer that was in the station needed to get there as soon as possible. Rob ran across the floor, grabbed his pistol and the keys to his police car. He leaped into the car, flipped the sirens on and sped to Fourth St. as fast as the car would let him. When he got there only two other officers were present, but they were not stopping the mad escapee from the state prison. They were lying there dead. Rob froze in the driver seat for a second observing the escapee, he was a short, scrawny, bald Chinese man who is probably in his fifties, and had a long Chinese mustache. Eventually he put his hand on the gun and left the car, right as Martha was calling him about the test results.

            "Put your hands up where I can see them," commanded Officer Carter to the escapee. The escapee turned away from the dead officers on the street and looked at Rob and smiled with blood around his mouth.

            "Your next dearie," the escapee pronounced eerily as he rushed to Mr. Carter with a knife in his hand.

Hey, this is my first story. In class a couple of weeks ago we had to write a mystery, so this is what i wrote! Hope you like it and like the cliffhanger :)
