Not only were quirks a thing in this world of heroes and villains; but so were soulmates. A soulmate, to be exact—from the dictionary—:

/ˈsōl ˌmāt/
noun

noun: soulmate

a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.

Soulmates were something anyone and everyone was excited about. The thought about being destined with the one who will love you forever stuck in everyone's mind. Especially for those teens out there; which only brought drama for a select few.

In this universe, soulmates were found simply by a colour changing flower on their wrist. Not all flowers were the same, but most were. The first hint to know if someone was your soulmate was if they had the same flower; if they did the next step would to see the colour. The colour signifies what your soulmate is feeling at any given point of time. Only when you were near your soulmate, and when they were both feeling the same emotion; love, that's when you know that's your match.

So, it's like testing how the relationship would go before it all explodes into a whole thing. But, if you choose to not go with that someone, the flower that lays upon your wrist will die. The next relationship you have will last forever, but it will also only bring pain to those who continue such a romance. Well, if you dare to even call it that.

You have one unread message.

I was too lost in my thoughts to even care what had popped onto the lock screen of my phone; even if it was my own mother. My thoughts tend to override me, especially since after the dumb tests that we were put through.

I almost expected more to happen through out the first day of school, but I was brought with almost nothing today. I of course grew angry as soon as that certain green curly haired male decided to show his new power. Even during my walk home, thinking of the whole scenario just pissed me off.

I never knew he had that power; why? I should've been able to see it, so why didn't I? I was missing something and I didn't know what it was. Frustration grew within me as those thoughts continued to swirl around in my head. I won't let him surpass me, no matter what that may take.

Soon, I found myself at home after having a somewhat irritated conversation with myself. The door was, as expected, unlocked as I simply glided in; while trying to not gain any attention from my mother. It was as if I was home late from a party, and I couldn't let her figure out I came home. But even so, my luck decided to fail for me as I heard her stomp towards the stairs.

"You're home! How was school?" Her default smile had a sense of danger, which was telling me that I was forced to answer. But of course, all that came out was 'Shut up, Hag' and other things such as that. I wouldn't call it disrespect, I would rather say its miscommunication.

"Also, what did you text me about?" I didn't bother to check my phone, so I might as well just ask now. Though, even from the top of the stairs I could see the confusion set upon her face.

"What are you talking about? I didn't text you." Now, I was more confused than her once I asked my question. There was a slight pause exchanged, until she simply shrugged and walked away. I stared at the stairs for a short while, before I made my way over to my room, while shutting the door behind me.
