Love Letter

Today is the day.

I thought as I wrapped my skirt around my shirt.

Today is the day I confess my feelings.

The love letter I spent all of my night on lay on my neatly tucked in bed. I pick it up gently, not wanting to crinkle it.

It might be a little old school this way, but I could never say my feelings for him aloud. I would trip over every word!

I've worked so hard to get where I am now, I think he feels the same!

I stuff the letter into my bag and continue to get ready for the day.

I only freeze whenever I hear the bus outside honking.

I look at the time.

Shit, it's 6:40!

With that, I grab my bag and run outside into the freezing day. I had forgotten my jacket, but that's okay.

I stumble into the seat I share with my friend Emma who was patting a face-puff on her cheeks.

¿I guess with all of this cold weather it cracked her makeup?

My bangs fly up as I sigh in relief.

Emma looks to me in shock. "Violet, when did you get here?"

If you weren't so busy with your makeup, you would've noticed me!

I just give her a smile and say, "Good morning." I look around at everyone on the bus. Since it's such a cold day, everyone is huddled together.

I then remember the note I had wrote last night. I quickly dig in out of my bag and hand it to Emma.

"Read this, it's my letter to-"

"-To Abe Frawl, From Violette Morce." She cuts me off.

"I've been desperately wanting to tell you this for a while now, but I never knew how to put my feelings for you into words-"

I quickly snatch the letter out of her hands and glare at her.

"What are you doing!" I whisper-yell, smoothing out the wrinkled letter in anger.

She just laughs.

Wow.

I'm honestly not surprised. Emma always finds a way to make me feel embarrassed when I have a crush. But it does help bring me back to earth.

"Don't be mad, I'm just teasing you." She says, laying a hand on my arm.

The ride to school wasn't long at all, and it was surprisingly warm on the bus now that the heaters were working.

I step off the bus with Emma's arm locked on mine, the cold breeze caressing our faces.

A wave of nervousness hits me as my eyes catch Abe who is talking to someone.

I feel Emma nudge me.

"It's now or never, come on you got this! I'll be watching from here." She says with a smile.

I sigh hard and retrieve the letter from my bag.

Emma's right.

It's now or never.

I work up my confidence and march over to him, knees high, and arms swinging. I feel as if I look angry.

Before I tap his arm, I breathe one last time.

Poke.. poke.

Abe turns around and looks me dead in the eyes. I feel as if everything has stopped.

I don't feel cold anymore, and I'm not nervous. It's like we are the only two people in the world.

My shaky hands reach out to him. I could feel the envelope accidentally poke his chest.

For some reason, a smile crosses my face.

I'm doing it. I'm finally confessing my love for you Abe.

"No, thank you." I hear him say. I look up and watch as Abe walks away from me.

What just happened?

(Author's note)
