"Accck!" I scream a little as I get thrown up in the air, and feel someone catching me in their arms. I shut my eyes tighter and hug my sweatshirt around me tighter.
Tears roll down my face. I know I'm being captured. The man keeps running with me, dodging trees and sticks. I finally open my eyes, looking up. Hunter grips me tighter as he runs through the night.
"M-Matt!" I cry out. "Matt!"
"Shhhh."
Immediately, he stared running faster. His breathing got louder and quicker, and he jumped and dove into a bush, protecting my head with his chest.
He landed in the middle of the huge bush, setting me down. He looked at me, fright in his eyes.
"Crawl. Quickly.." He whispered. "Crawl farther in."
I quickly started army crawling towards the middle. I pushed through some leaves, and there was a little circle with a sleeping bag in it and a lantern.
I sat in the sleeping bag, Hunter following me and sitting next to me. I looked at him, and I smiled. He smiled back.
Immediately, he hugged me. I hugged him back, not knowing what to say.
I pulled back, looking at his face again. There was a huge cut from something across it.
"Aw.." I looked at him.
"Does it sting?" I whispered.
"No.." He whispered back. I grabbed a leaf, making sure it was safe, and wiped the cut. I grabbed another one, applying pressure and making it stop bleeding.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
"My parents are dead!" I cried, bursting into tears. "They're gone!"
Hunter looked at me, holding his breath. He looked to the ground.
"Do you know who that man is?" He whispered, taking my hands.
"No..."
He kissed my forehead, picking me up and setting me on his lap.
"You're gonna be okay... I promise."
"I know..." I cried softly. "But my mom..."
"Hey." Hunter said.
"What..?" I sniffed.
"I love you." He says ". I'll protect you....... Were gonna make it."
He looked at me, and I stared at him. I smiled, and hiccuped.
"I know we are."
