Jacob carried a feeling of satisfaction with him after that. Troye had an air of hard to get about him. He was a little sarcastic and judgemental, but Jacob had a feeling it was just an act. An act that he was determined to crack. He had run into Troye no less than 3 times since they first met at the fashion show. Troye was staying at a hotel in downtown Los Angeles for awhile. Jacob knew this because he'd sent Jedidiah to go fishing for information. He hadn't gotten much.

Jacob didn't even know what the point of this was. Maybe he just wanted to see if he could get Troye's poised facade to crumble.

Today he would see Troye again. A whole group of their mutual friends was going out for drinks at a new club that had just opened. It was the first time that he'd see Troye somewhere that he knew he'd be seeing Troye. They got seated next to each other at the big group's table, whether accidentally or on purpose Jacob didn't know. Troye looked around as if to see if anyone was paying attention, and then he leaned in closer to Jacob so speak.

"You're an asshole." He whispers. "The phone numbers?"

Jacob bites back a grin. "One of my better ideas."

"You're a sneak and a liar. You can't be trusted." Troye says to him, but Jacob knows he doesn't mean it. Not really anyways.

"If anything, I should be commended for my dedication to attaining your number, yeah?"

"No. Nothing will come of that, Jacob." he folds his arms and looks around the room. He looks pressed, his cheeks flushed.

"Maybe I just wanted to see if I could." Jacob replies.

"Maybe you should find someone easy to get and desperate who wants to play your games." Troye snaps. "You won't get that out of me."

Jacob's heart sinks. He really hadn't been trying to upset Troye. "I'm sorry," he tells the brunette boy, and he means it. "I wasn't trying to bother you. I was just having a bit of fun."

Troye relaxes slightly in his seat. Jacob can see his shoulders soften just a little. "Just... forget it. I don't care."

Troye turns and strikes up a conversation with Jed, making it inherently clear that he's done talking to Jacob.

And so Jacob's supposes that that's that.

Jacob sort of thought he blew it after that, but it turns out that he mostly didn't. He and Troye had a lot of mutual friends, so because Troye was in LA, they ended up seeing each other a lot. Pretty much every weekend and at least once during the week. They didn't become friends exactly, but they were able to carry a conversation alright. Troye still seemed to carry this bothersome sarcastic and superior facade that annoyed Jacob because he wanted to see what it was like to get to know Troye. Not Troye's public image. Emma, Troye's manager, had told him that Troye was really sweet and funny and gentle. Funny, he had seen. Troye has no problem coming up with a wisecrack on the spot, especially if it was at Jacob's expense, but sweet and gentle? He tried to imagine this picture perfect boy in sweats and a tee shirt, maybe curled on the couch watching Drag Race, but try as he might he couldn't see that. There was something about Troye that just intrigued him. Like an itch he couldn't scratch.

Jacob has never thought of himself as the kind of person who would fall for someone just because they were a challenge but here he was, half his thoughts being consumed by the boy with the brunette curls.
