Amelie's POV

"The sunrise is so beautiful this morning"  I think to myself while staring out the window into the deep reds, oranges, and pinks that formed the masterpiece in the morning sky.

One of the perks of riding on the bus at 7 in the morning is being able to see the beautiful sunrise from high elevations, which is always beautiful. I've always been so intrigued by sunrises; I always wondered when I was little what created a completely different sunrise every day.

Slowly, the colors brighten and form a shade of blue that takes over the sky for the day.

As we pull up to school, I'm honestly scared of what could happen today, because my school is the absolute weirdest school on planet Earth.

"Thank you, have a nice day." I say before stepping off of the bus.

As I walk to homeroom, I stop to say talk to my friend Kylee, who's at her locker.

"Morning Amie (A/N: "ah-mie"; oh, and Amie is Kylee's nickname for Amelie)"

"Morning Ky"

"So, apparently there's a new student coming and he's in your homeroom... which means he's in honors."

"He?"

"Yup!"

"Wow, thank god, we need more boys in this school because they're all really trashy people."

"I know! Anyways, I gotta get to homeroom before I get killed by Mrs. Lavode."

"Aww, byeeeee"I said while drawing out the "e".

As I'm walking to my homeroom I can't help but wonder what he will be like. Will he be another one of those 8th grade playboys or will he just be plain ugly?

And then I see him, standing at my teachers desk.

He is tall with medium length brown hair and green eyes that I could get lost in, and he was wearing a black t-shirt with a forest green jacket. He was cute. Really cute. Everyone else in the room was just mingling with each other; first period hadn't started yet.

I put my stuff down at my desk and wait for first period to start.

Should I try and talk to him? I think to myself.

I'm sitting at my desk having a debate with myself about whether I should try and talk to him or not when my teacher finally decides to start class.

"Good morning class, as you can see, we have a new student joining us in class today. Would you like to come up and introduce yourself?"

"Um, sure..." the boy replies. He sounds slightly nervous, which is understandable because it's only his first day.

"Hi, I'm Dylan, my family and I moved here from Vancouver, where I've lived my whole life, so this is my first time ever going to a public school in the states, and... yeah."

"Thank you, Dylan. Well, we actually just moved seating around last week so I'll just put you at the open seat over there, near Amelie."

Oh my gosh, is he really sitting next to me?

"Hey, I'm Dylan."

Okay, he is so much cuter up close.

"I know," I say and give him a welcoming smile. "I'm Amelie."
