"We aren't allowed to use explosives on a purge night!" A man said in a complaining tone.
"Who cares it's not like when you call 999 there is even a response."
"Call them then," I could hear a phone being dialled and then a female voice say.
"999 what is your emergency? Oh wait no one give flying fishes what your emergency is. Have a good purge!"
I shuddered a bit and I think the people instantly saw this because they didn't say a word after this.
Seconds later the song blurry face by 21 pilots started playing very loudly. I didn't understand the purpose of this so I bravely sat up and leaned myself against the wall as two tall men in a white mask stood in front of me.
This scared me a lot mainly because they weren't moving and just stood there.
I closed my eyes as some tears seep down my face. "Oh God help me. Please," I whisper slightly hoping for a miracle and just then the door opens.
A big man was holding a tied up and badly bruised man. He throws him in front of me making me gasp in shock.
It was my dad.
Dad was laying on his back and looked at me in shock.
"Dad!" He tried to say something as I moved closer but couldn't because he was gagged.
"Dad ssshh your going to be okay," I said as I tried to hold me close to me. I could feel him shaking and suddenly felt guilty for running out the house. I should have stayed and went through what he did.
But I didn't.
Tears ran down his face and I tried to wipe them but a gun was pointed down at me making dad shake even more.
"Move away from the old man!" I did as he said but rolled my eyes at him as I did so. Another man picked dad up from the ground before sitting him on a chair.
"Okay turn the music off I think it is time for the presentation to start."
One of the white masked men said excitedly as the other nodded and went to stand near my dad. The man who had previously dropped my dad in front of me came and sat next to me. He grabbed my hands and held them together.
"Right," the man standing near my dad pulled the gag out his mouth and put a gun to his head. "Don't even think about talking unless you want to die in front of your daughter."
Dad nodded in fear and the man pulled the gun away from his head.
"Okay so we are all gathered here today because this man killed one of our men on 7th July 2001." My eyes widened causing the men the laugh.
Please say it's a joke.
"So your precious father hasn't even told you anything about his past."
"He doesn't need to because I know everything," I lied just for them to not have the pleasure of breaking me with the truth and it was working.
Their smiles were slowing fading making me feel satisfied.
"So tell me everything then. I want to hear your story," I looked at my dad and saw something in his eyes.
Regret.
I looked up at the mask men. "My dad killed someone out of self defence."
"Self defence my ass!" The man next to me shouted as he gripped my hands tighter.
"So is that what you have been telling your precious flower?" The man next to dad asked.
Dad sat still with his head down and I couldn't help the tears which ran down my cheeks.
"Tell your daughter the truth. I want to go get a new phone from argos seeing as some stupid bastard broke the one I had with a single shot bullet. I dont have all night."
"When you were a baby I shot a man because I didn't want to be in touch with the gang I had been in for a while."
"How where you able to shoot the man? Isn't guns illegal in the UK," I asked.
"Yes but we all had guns and I kept my in case of danger and-"
"-And you thought Mitchell was danger!" The man next to me shouted out and my dad nodded.
"My daughter was in the house and he wanted me and him to have a fist fight and the last time we did he stabbed me. I had to go hospital for weeks."
"So who looked after me?"
"I had to contact your mother. I didn't want you in care."
"So mum didn't die while having me?"
"I am sorry."
"Why didn't she stay?"
"Some people feel detached from their babies once they have had them and she changed once she had you. So we separated."
"Ohhh."
"I am sorry."
"Okay so when the man came over for a fight you shot him?" I asked to clarify.
"Yes. I shot to injury but he bled out. I did try to help him."
"Then that is self defence," I said firmly as I looked at the white masked men standing up.
"He did this for me so if anyone should be killed then it should be me."
"I am glad you want to sacrifice yourself. Unfortunately I need your father to be the sacrifice."
I got on my knees as the man next to me held my hands together firmly.
"Please he is all I have. I have no one else. Don't do this."
"Sorry sweetheart," the man who was next to me got up and walked to them. They formed a circle around my dad.
Before chanting some words I had never word before.
Blessed be United Kingdom for letting us purge and cleanse our souls.
I closed my eyes and covered my ears with my hand. I didn't want to hear it or see it.
"I love you sweetheart," my dad said quietly and suddenly he started counting down.
"10, 9, 8, 7,"
I instantly knew what he was doing.
I got up and looked back to see a door behind me.
I quickly ran through the door before locking it. I could hear the other men banging on it. They had locked the main door in case I tried to run or do anything so I knew they were screwed.
My dad had an explosive on himself and I needed to get out of the building.
I ran out and ended up in a familiar looking corridor so I carried on. Until I was in the main part of McDonald's only there was dead bodies laying around.
The door was right open leading to the darkness of night or early morning. I had lost track of the time. I ran towards the door in full speed but then there was a big flash of light.
BOOM.
CRACK.
I fell to the ground with a big thud.
Silence.
Then I heard the radio.
"Wow the purge has been very successful! Now everyone has 25 minutes to do what they would like..."
That is when I lost consciousness.
