Chapter V- Smiles

Several weeks later,

It was a pleasant day with the sun shining brightly. The bus Mina was riding stopped to load passengers. She didn't mind the people getting on the bus and just plugged her earphones on and played some music to sooth her mind.

She texted Jihyo she is on her way and the girl said that she is still at home eating. Mina just shook her head to friend's laziness. "That girl, really." She mumbled.

The three of them are living near the school. It only takes a five- minute walk for them to be there. While Mina need to have a fifteen- minute ride to get there.

But between the four of them, Mina will always be the first one to arrive every single time. Remembering this, Mina can only shook her head at the thought.

"Why are you shaking your head, Mina unnie?" She was startled when someone talked and even sat beside her. She looked at the person and recognized her. "Tzuyu?" She asked. "I never thought your house is on my way. This is the first time we bumped in a bus." Mina said. She was really startled. She thought that Tzuyu lived near the school too.

"Hehe. Yeah. I lived in the same subdivision as Chaen but she's not feeling well today so I'm alone." She pouted. Tzuyu is not used to Chaeyoung not being around.

"I'm glad I rode the same bus as you, Mina unnie!" She smiled sweetly with her eyes sparkling. She seemed really happy because she's not riding alone.

By the way, Tzuyu is Chaeyoung's classmate and friend. They both played table tennis that is how Mina got to know her. Even though Tzuyu and her don't hang out as much as she do with Chaeyoung, they still occasionally talk to each other because they are on the same department. The special science class.

Mina had run into her a couple of times in the school's hallway and every time, Tzuyu never greeted her without a smile.

'Tzuyu is a silent type of person but she is really a warm person when you get to know her.' She remembered Chaeyoung once told her and she can't help but agree to the younger.

Ever since Chaeyoung introduced Tzuyu to Mina, she had seen how dorky the girl can be when she is with her close friends. Mina was glad she get to see that and glad that she became Tzuyu's friend too.

Tzuyu's sincerity behind her smiles are what made Mina like her as a friend.

Tzuyu is not someone who smiles a lot but when she does you can't help but to be captivated by it. No wonder she's called one of the school's goddesses. Tzuyu's a little introvert and doesn't interact with people a lot but she's very competitive too.

"I'm glad I am part of her circle." Mina thought to herself.

"Mina unnie?" Tzuyu patted her shoulder causing Mina to look at her direction. "We are here already." she said gently with that smile. Mina can't help but to smile back.

They got off from the bus and walked inside the campus. Soon after, they parted ways to go to their respective rooms.

As Mina walked towards her classroom, the thing that Tzuyu said to her on the bus suddenly popped up in her head.

Chaeyoung is sick! She suddenly stopped on her track and covered her mouth. She was so lost in her thoughts that it did not sink in immediately.

'I should text Chaeyoung and ask how she is doing.' Mina felt bad to not realize what Tzuyu said. So, she hurriedly took her phone on her bag and typed a message. "I hope she will get better real quick. I'm going to miss her." She was kind of sad she can't hang out with Chaeyoung but the girl's health is much more important.

As she walked inside the room and sit on her chair by the window, her thoughts still lingering to the same girl, Chaeyoung.

Soon after, her friends arrived and looked at Mina weirdly. The girl was just sitting looking out the window. They we're always greeted by the girl as they came but today was a bit weird. So, they approached the girl's seat. "Earth to Mina." Jihyo said as she knocked on Mina's desk. The latter was startled, so, Jihyo apologized. "What are you thinking, Mina? Sana asked curiously. The girl, Mina, heaved a sigh and answered, "Chaeyoung is sick. She can not come to school." She sadly said. Momo raised a brow hearing this. "You have never been this sad when I was absent for days, though. I am so jealous of Chaeyoung now." Momo pouted. Jihyo just elbowed her to stop teasing Mina.

When Mina heard what Momo said, she immediately focused on the girl and gave her a hug. "Sorry, Momo. Don't think that way. I love you. You know that, right? You are my best friend. All of you." Mina said that made the three chuckle.

"Can you say "I love you" to Chaeyoung?" Momo continued teasing. Mina blushed and three just laughed at her.

"Okay, guys. That's enough teasing. Minari is getting really red now. She might as well get hired as a new ketchup ambassador." Sana said and laughed hard.

Mina glared at them and covered her face soon after. "I take it back. I hate you all!" The girl said but was left unheard by the three who was laughing hard.

"Mina is having a crush." Momo said teasingly. "That is not true!" She defended.

They we're like that until the bell rang indicating the start of first period. The three went back to their desk and stopped laughing when the teacher came in. 'At last, peace of mind.' Mina thought as her table cleared from her teasing friends.

Before the class starts she thought of Chaeyoung one last time.

'I really hope she's not that ill...'
