I am El

And I yearn to go

All my life

I've followed the flow

I've done as told

To make them grin

I've played along

And let them win

Because I am El

The bubbly child

Fun and naive

And not really wild

Strong for others

When they themselves can't be

But when I'm not strong

I try not to let them see

I am El

I want to see all the places

And I can't wait to see

So many new faces

Since I was 11

I've known writing is for me

I want to help people disappear

Into the books we use to flee

I am El
