                Sebastian POV:

I impatiently tap my wine glass as I wait for my beautiful wife to be finishes her terrible story.  You must think I'm a monster or something, for being mean to my fiancé, but to be honest, she is a total bitch.  Moreover, the weddings tomorrow!  Can you believe it?  I can’t and don't want to.  This is all a fake relationship.  I know she is with me because, when I die, she will be one of the wealthiest people in the world if we didn’t have children to inherent instead.  I'm surprised she hasn’t murdered me yet to be honest.  That’s also why she told me she couldn’t have children, but I wasn’t surprised when I found a little bottle labeled ‘birth control’ on it under the sink.  So, she is a manipulative bitch, and I'm an arrogant asshole.  Perfect. Fucking.  Relationship.  No?  I think so anyways.  The whole table burst into a polite laughter and I sarcastically, do the same.  I excuse myself from the table and grab another wine glass from the nearest caterer.  I stand off in the corner of the room we reserved for the rehearsal dinner.

“You’re a lucky man!  Tabitha here is one of the most beautiful women in the whole world!”  One of my dad’s perverted friends comments, half drunk.

“Oh, but you’re the lucky one.  Your wife died didn’t she?”  I ask with a polite smile on my face.  His eyes do wide as he slowly backs away.  The fake smile vanishes from my lips as I tilt my head back to chug my wine.  I'm going to need a lot more of that shit to get through this night.  I sigh and walk back to the table I was at.  Tabitha is making small talk with people we met maybe once before.  But no one else would come because once again, nobody really, I mean, truly likes us.  But I don't like people anyways.  They are idiots that stand in my way.  Thinking about the wedding makes my head hurt like hell, so I imagine that the people are congratulating me because my stock raised an unbelievable amount.  After all, I am a business man.  An hour later, I'm just about falling asleep.  This shit is boring as hell and I want to go home, and go to sleep.  At the table next to us, there is a sudden commotion.  Suddenly, Tabitha is running over to where her convulsing father lies on the ground.

“Oh shit!  Is there a doctor here?” I shout and stand up from my seat.

“Here!”  Someone yells from across the room.  A girl, looking far too young to be a doctor, sprints as fast as I've ever seen anyone move, kneels down next to Mr. Green.  She starts chest compressions and I finally get a good look at her face.  Big brown eyes, with a pale face with auburn hair.  I've seen girls much prettier than her.  Hell, the woman fixing her make up as her father is dying, next to me (See?  Bitch!), is about ten times prettier than her.  But, for some reason, I find myself completely captivated by her.  I just can’t look away.  I hear sirens in the distance, getting closer to the steak house.  A minute later, Mr. Green is being taken away on a stretcher.  The girl, who performed CPR, is shaking hands with one of the paramedics, looking quite proud of herself.  Hey, if I didn’t know Mr. Green myself, I would be proud too.  But, much like his daughter, he is a very unlikable person.

I feel my feet moving over to this girl, who now stands alone.  I stop about a foot in front of her and she looks up at me with her eyebrows raised.

“What’s your name?”  I ask like an idiot.  My palms start to sweat.  Am I really getting nervous over this girl?

Eloise.  What’s yours?”  She asks sarcastically.

“That’s a nice name.  And why the sarcasm?”  I ask, intrigued by the fact that she isn’t scared of me.

“Well, first of all, this is your rehearsal dinner.  Secondly, everyone knows who you are.”  She says simply.  I look her up and down and notice her dress for the first time.  It’s like a tan, or something, but it compliments her pale skin tone.  Now that I'm closer up, I notice the freckles on her nose and the light blush on her cheeks.

“Fair point.  So if I don't know you, who does?”  I ask coldly.

“Your snot bag of a fiancé.” She says not missing a beat.  Nobody has the kind of guts to say anything about Tabitha or me, even behind out backs.  I find this rather amusing actually, but I know that if it was anyone else, they would be unemployed by the time I snap my fingers.

“Your feisty.  It’s refreshing.”  I say with a chuckle.

“Thanks I guess?”  She says rolling her eyes.

“So how old are you?  Far too young to be a doctor, no?”  I say with a smirk.

“Are you too young to own a multimillion dollar company?  Oh wait!”  She says copying my smirk.  “And I'm 24.”  She says crossing her arms.

“How many years of school did you skip?  Twelve?”  I ask, very impressed that someone so pretty could graduate school period.  What am I saying?  She isn’t even that pretty.  Not at all…

“Something like that.”  She mutters and I could tell it’s a touchy subject.

“So, back to my snot bag of a fiancé, how do you know her?”  I ask with a slight smile.  She lets out a light laugh and pushes a stray hair out of her face.  It falls back.

“She profusely bullied me in high school.  And now I'm here, saving her father, who she obviously doesn’t give a dam about.”  She says gesturing over to Tabitha, pathetically holding a hand over her heart.  I stifle a laugh at her phony act. I turn back to Eloise, who is curiously staring at me.

“What?”  I ask quite rudely.  Her eyes widen and she looks at the ground.  The piece of hair is loose again and it’s driving me crazy from some reason.

“Sorry but, people say your mean and scary and well, your neither of those things.  So yeah…”  She says uncomfortably.

“Well don't tell anyone, if they know I'm a teddy bear, you know, life’s work will go down the drain.”  I try to make a joke.

“Did you just make a joke?”  She looks completely flabbergasted.  That damn piece of hair…

“A good one too.”

“That was a shitty joke.”

“Yeah it was.”  I admit.  She pushes the piece of hair out of her face again.  It goes back.  Before I can stop myself, I reach over and properly tuck it behind her ear.  When I pull back, her eyes are wide and face is flushed.  I give her a smirk before I turn on my heel and walk away without looking back.
