-Ashlyn's POV-

I stood near my locker, memorizing my schedule. First day of freshman year and I got to admit, I'm pretty nervous. This year... this year will be different. This year will be different from all the years in the past. This year I'll have friends, good grades, maybe even... a boyfriend? Nobody has ever really taken an interest in me, but this year? It'll be different. Everything is gonna change.

I notice a boy beside me, memorizing his schedule. He must be using the locker beside me, I thought. I'm gonna be seeing this kid everyday and between periods, plus I wanted some friends... I should introduce myself.

I closed my locker and turned to him, smiling. "Hi there!" I said, waving a bit. He ignored me and continued to look at his schedule. Maybe he didn't hear me... I thought. "Hi!" I said once more, a little louder than the first time. He looked at me, slightly confused. He pointed at himself, as if to ask if I was talking to him.

I nodded and laughed a bit, "yes you, silly!" He smiled for a second, waving back. Then, his smile vanished and he went back to reading his schedule. I took a glance and saw that we had almost all of our classes together except for one.

RING RING

I sighed, that was the bell. He began to get his stuff together and scurry to class quickly. I got a hold of his arm so he couldn't leave. "Hold on there, we have the same class right now, let's walk to together." I smiled. He shrugged and started walking a bit slower so we could walk together.

"My name's Ashlyn, but you can call me Ash. What's your name?" I asked him. He simply shrugged once more and continued making his way to class. Alright, so not much of a talker, I thought. But I'm not giving up on this kid.
