Suddenly a shrill giggle echoed down the hallway. It sounded like a young girl but with menacing undertones. Footsteps began lightly trailing from the front of the house and gradually got heavier and more frantic the closer to Riley's bedroom they got. Heel... toe... heel... toe... heel, toe, heel toe HEELTOEHEELTOEHEELTOEHEELTOE. The steps came faster and faster as if someone were running towards her and all of a sudden they ceased. The house was sucked of all audio.

The hair stood up on her arms and the room became charged with a dense negative energy. Riley clamped her lips shut and blinked furiously as thick tears glided down her pale face Her pulse rabbited in her ears as her phone lit up with spectacular brightness. She jerked quickly and answered.
"Riley, are you okay?" Her father's voice came through the phone. Riley took a shallow breath and uttered an empty,
 "Yes".
"Riley, don't move, stay where you are, I'm on my way."
"How did you..."
"I have my ways."
"Dad, there's something here. I'm.... scared." Just as she breathed those words the hallway went pitch black. The lights were engulfed with darkness as if the very air were feasting light. "Don't take your eyes away Riley, stay exactly where you are, I'm almost there. Just.... I'll... there...." And the phone disconnected.

Riley kept staring at her doorway like he had told her to as she lowered the phone on top of the blankets. A cold burst crept along the floor like a dense fog. A foul stench of rotting corpses filled the room and made Riley wretch.

She heard a car door slam shut and the front door handle jiggle. Her room began groaning as if it was under immense strain. The architraves creaked, and the ceiling let out an awful crack as if it were ready to collapse. Riley followed the noises with her eyes trying to pin point where IT was.

Riley's breaths came quick and hot as she felt for her bedside light. Her outstretched hand began feeling the chord, her iPod, her cup of water and... someone's hand. It was cold to the touch. She drew her hand back immediately and shuffled to the other side of her bed.

She saw two pale hands on the corner of the duvet.

The skin looked blue and waterlogged with a road map of black veins trailing underneath. Its nails were blackest at the base of the nail beds fading out to a deep and vibrant red dripping from the tips. Slowly a head full of long black hair emerged followed by engorged black eyes peeping over the edge. The voice that came out sounded like 7 different voices speaking at once in a sing song tune.

"There's a well filled with blood..."
