You stared at him, gripping onto your tablet. He's just sitting there. Not talking or anything. Should I strike up a conversation?
"So... Bonnie? Is it?"
"Yeah," he responded. Bonnie was tuning his electric guitar and sitting in a chair next to you.
"That's an... Interesting name..." you looked at him up and down trying to find something to talk about. "It sounds-"
"Like a girl's name?"
"No. It sounds pretty. Your name."
He stopped tuning and looked up at you. "Thanks," he said back.
"What's that? An electric guitar?"
He held it closer to his chest. "Yeah, actually."
"Where did you get it?"
"It was given to me when I was built."
"... So you're still an animatronic?"
"Partly. My body? Yes. But my mind? I think I've evolved from my designated code. I mean, all of us are animatronics. I just believe that I'm more than a robot... I'm the only one that does."
"Wow, that's..."
"Deep?"
"Yeah. I mean. I never knew an- an-"
"Animatronic?"
"Yeah... I didn't want to say it to-"
"You didn't."
"... So do you play it?" you quickly changed the subject.
"What? Oh, my guitar?" he held it up. "Why would I even have it in the first place if I didn't know how to? I play it for the kids. Well, did."
"That's right... Not a lot of people come here anymore..." you looked away a little disappointed.
"They still come. They just... Not as much."
"Yeah... You know, I used to come here a lot as a little kid.
"Oh really? You must've been pretty young. I don't recognize you."
"I had h/c(hair color) hair back then. It was h/l(hair length).
"What made you want to be a security guard?"
"I guess I wanted to come back to this place again and see the smiling children's faces. But instead, I got stuck with the night shift. Although, if I hadn't been assigned I wouldn't have been able to meet you all personally. I would've still just thought you were just performers."
"Hmm..."
"Speaking of performers, can you play me a song?" you asked.
His bunny ears, which had been drooping, perked up. "Yes!" he responded excitedly.
(This song and the singer fit so well with this part. Thank you, Ben Schuller.)
After a while, he finally finished reciting the last lines of his song. He looked at you excitedly, waiting for your opinion and approval. That was probably the first time you had seen him excited. He was mostly in a monotone mood.
"Wow," you said, stunned at how good he sounded. "That was... I never thought you'd be one to sing a romantic song."
"I usually don't," he set down his guitar and walked towards you. "But this time I decided to make an exception. Y/n-" he lifted up your head so you could look into his eyes. "I love you. Ever since I saw you come that first night I've been in love with you. Do you feel the same way?"
