Dao Ming Si sat in silence and tried to ignore Lei while watching everyone else dance and have a good time. He was bored and Ximen and Meizou were of no help as they had disappeared after girls as soon as they arrived at the beach party. Lei had strode in alone and sat next to him without saying a word, not that Ah Si would have answered him if he had, he was still angry at the jerk for taking Shancai from the cafeteria. Ah Si was not going to easily forgive him this time. No this time he would let Lei suffer, although glancing over at him Lei did not look like he was suffering much. Ah Si took a sip of his drink and called Lei a jerk for the tenth time since he got there.
Not seeing Shancai made him sulk some more and that made him angry as he did not know why he was upset that she was not at the beach yet. Ah Si had changed his vacation plans to be near that girl and he still could not figure out why he felt so drawn towards her, he couldn't understand why he felt possessive over some dumb girl who didn't even like him back, but he did. Just thinking of her being with her banana farmer friend had driven him mad enough to cancel the Hawaii trip, but seeing the surprise on Shancai's face had been worth all the trouble.
The other reason for his slowly dampening mood was sitting next to him, looking as if he could be anywhere else in that head of his. Lei probably didn't even realize Shancai likes him and that made Ah Si jealous of his friend for the first time in his life. That dumb girl was not going to listen to him and was going to get her heart broken. There was only one love in Lei's life and that was Jing it would always be Jing. As he was thinking this he spots her walking towards them but he only had a second to acknowledge her before all he could see was Shancai.
Shancai was walking hesitantly a step behind Jing and all Ah Si could think about was how beautiful she looked in that white dress, so different from the clothes he had her wear at his home. This dress was making him want to get up and wrap her in his arms, he couldn't think, he might have stopped breathing a few seconds ago.
Ah Si just could not take his eyes off her, he heard his name being called out from far away, as if he was being woken from some deep sleep where his dream was too good to let go.
He realized Meizou was talking to him, waiting for an answer on how good Shancai looked but when he found his voice all he could say to Meizou was that he was exaggerating and she just looked fine.
Ah Si took a sip of his drink to stop himself from blurting out how amazing she looked to him.
He thought about approaching her but he saw how she could not stop looking at Lei, not even when Jing sat next to him and took all of his attention.
Ah Si smirked and shrugged his shoulders, typical of Lei, to be unaware of anyone else when Jing was around and Shancai standing there almost begging for some type of approval from Lei stirred up those feelings of jealousy again.
All he could do was watch Shancai watch Lei and try to mentally tell her to give up, but somehow he knew it was pointless.
Ah Si felt Jing get up but he was not about to take his eyes off Shancai to see what was going on with Lei. Shancai was now looking in his direction and he took the opportunity to look directly into her eyes, he could get lost in there he thought and just then Shancai made a face at him. That face was enough to break his almost hypnotic contact with her. He got up from his chair with every intention to tell her what a stupid girl she was for liking Lei, but with each step he took, he felt her nervous gaze on him slicing away his confidence and suddenly he forgot what he was going to say, he could hear someone counting down from ten which made everyone shout but that too faded the closer he got to Shancai.
As Ah Si walked towards Shancai he wondered how would it feel to have her in his arms, yet all he could focus on were her eyes, her lips and then full darkness fell around them, he felt
himself being tackled to the ground. Ah Si fell backwards and he instinctively reached out and wrapped his arms around this crazy girl who knocked him down. All too quickly he was on his back with the sand breaking his fall, but although the sand was soft it did not compare to the softness he felt in his arms and pressing on his lips.
Ah Si realized he was kissing Shancai and for a second he thanked whoever had made this miracle happen. He became aware of her weight pressing down his body and how perfect it felt, her lips were everything he could have imagined and more. Then just as there had been instant darkness, the lights came back on, he opened his eyes and found himself staring into Shancai's eyes while her lips were still warmly on his. And just as quickly those lips were gone and he could feel the same tingling sensation on his lips that was radiating all over his body.
Ah Si felt her weight lifting off him leaving a pang in his stomach at the sudden loss of her body against his. They both got up off the ground with everyone staring and without thinking he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind "I was wondering who tackled me..It was you, you almost knocked my teeth out"
He chances a side glance at her and is surprised by her expression which was not what he was expecting, after all she had just kissed him, she should have had a smile on her face but all he saw was embarrassment and could it be guilt?
Ah Si could not understand, so he pointedly asked her " Hey, what kind of expression is that?" Then it quickly dawn on him "Was that.. was that your first kiss?" He knew the answer by the look in her eyes. Shancai remained silent while looking directly at Lei then quickly turned and ran out. Ah Si stood there and watched her go with an incredulous smile forming in his lips. He, DaoMing Si had been Shancai's first kiss.
The night's events had turned this into the best day in his life so far. The thought running in his mind as he turned to look at Lei with a smirk was "Take that you jerk, you'll never know what a kiss from Shancai is like." He smiles to himself at the sudden knowledge that Shancai is the one..she is the girl for him.
