The love war
The start..
The warmth of the sunshine comforted me as I lay there falling asleep. The damp air drowning through the den as well as Echoes,shadows and footsteps lingered. The sounds of snoring from other sleeping bodies haunted the den. A slight breeze carried through the opening, Heaps of autumn leaves brushed through. Light beams shone through the opening, Bellies of others rolled upwards to catch the warm light. Whines could be heard from the sleeping bodies. Howls from outside from the energetic spirits bounced off the rock walls. I yawned as if I hadn't slept for years.
"Mikah ,do you ever stop sleeping?" I heard a deep voice from the entrance of the den. I pricked my head up to see who was there "Yes I do matter of fact." I answered sourly. "Warm up i'm joking with you". "Yeah yeah Kohana. Well now since i'm awake thanks to you, let's go check on the pack". I stretched my stiff back legs as I walked out of the den into the daylight. " Mikah.." I heard from behind me. "I wanted to ask you something." I turned around and walked back in the den. "What is it Kohana?"I looked at him. "I wanted to ask you how you found my pack and why did you leave yours?" He looked at me with the glimmer in his eye."I-I don't want to talk about it." I answered sadly. "Ahw come on please tell me, I won't mention it again if you tell me." He looked at me with those puppy eyes. "Fine just don't ask anymore questions." "don't worry I won't ask again."Kohana responded.
" So it all started when I was a pup, I was sold to a Young Pretty lady named Buck. Buck seemed nice. she had two other dogs named Dexter and Maple. They accepted me as soon as they saw me. I guess I was like a younger sister to them... But when I turned a year old Buck had fallen ill, So some friends of hers came to take care of us.... They were men who were strong men which were strong and bold, If we got out of hand they would hit us with clubs.But one day one of the men walked up to me and put on a so called harness on me, It was uncomfortable at first but I got used to the feeling, A leash was hooked onto my harness and they dragged me out the door. I thought they were taking me on a walk but they turned the opposite way of the trail... I was confused, they dragged me
towards a sled with Dexter and Maple already hooked up to it. What were they doing? None of this seemed familiar, Buck would never hook me up to this Thing. They dragged me to the sled but I fought back, I didn't want to be hooked up, It looked uncomfortable. The men swang the club at me and hit me on the side, I yelped in pain.
Maple and Dexter glanced over in shock as I charged all my body and strength towards the man, He hurt me now it was his turn to feel pain.
I knocked the guy to the ground and I bit into the flesh on his arm. He hollered in pain as he tried to grasp ahold of his club. The other man came running out to see what was going on. The guy came running over and pounded me with the club, I opened my jaws and got away from the club, the man hollered and screamed at me. I coward in fear as the man stepped close to me and hit me some more with the club. Maple and Dexter growled at the other man I bit as he walked towards them and un-tide them.
Maple ran over to me where I lay there on my side bleeding and huffing out of breath. I gazed up at Maple as she whimpered at me. I nuzzled her chin as she lay beside my limp body..The pain was harsh but I managed to stand up. Maple stayed by my side that night. I knew if this kept happening it would kill me,so I had to think of a plan... Plan after plan after plan, none of them worked. It's been months since i've seen Buck around, the men got harsher over the months,they have trained me to pull the sled, It was hard pulling the sled and tiring. " Mikah.. I think I have an idea for you to escape.." I turned around to see who was behind me, it was Maple. "Really?" I answered with a smile. "Yep. when we go training again we can chew the harnesses off and when the men aren't looking you can take off" She said with a sad smile. ¨ What about you and Dexter are you guys coming too?" I said sadly. ¨We will Mikah, but we gotta distract the men so you can run" she awnered. And so the day had come. I raced off into the forest while Dexter and Maple distracted the men. And I didn't stop until I heard your howl kohana.¨
