He stood there in the dim light of a stormy day. The wind blowing with such ferocity that his tidied hair from this morning has become nothing more than disheveled.
He was staring. Staring with eyes as dull as a weathered, handmade oak table. Slowly chipping away until nothing but a frame is left. A frame that will crumble without foundations.
He wondered why things had to be the way they were. It was hard; living. Each breath felt like a lifetime of cold waves. Sinking down into his chest, and being blown out with more toxicity than where it began.
He clenched his lifeless hand over his chest, faintly feeling his beating heart. A heart that ached every second of every day. An ache that seemed to be incurable.
"Are you okay?" A faint, gentle voice echoed through his ears and mind.
He had not noticed this being before him. A being that shone brighter than the billions of stars in the darkest night sky. Her eyes warmer than any fire he felt, and their colour was perfection incarnate. A soft smile of sorrow and understanding played on her lips.
A single, slim tear rolling down her cheek caught his cold eyes. His thumb caught it, wiping it off the goddess before him.
"I will be." He said.
He smiled. His eyes looking into hers. Grasping at their kindness and warmth, making hers his own.
It was time to move on.
It was time to move forward.
