FF-The Maze Runner

It was a normal day but then everything went blank and black. I heard a noise like I was moving forward when I jolted and opened my eyes. Where am I? I wonder. I was in a metal box that seemed to be moving upward. I was alone and I didn’t remember how I got here. I only remember my name, Cali.

It was a long journey up but then the door above me opened and light poured into the dark box. I looked up and until my focus got used too the light I saw blobs. But after my eyes got adjusted I saw boys. Tons of boys. One jumped down at me and I put myself in a corner scared. He only walked towards me.

“It’s a gurl.” He said. His voice ringing in my ears. “What’s your name greenie?” He asks me still inching closer. I put my knees up to protect me.

“It’s Calllllli.” I say. He nods.

“Well you gonna get out of this box?” He asks staring at me in the corner. I stand up and look at all the faces staring at me. I heard a few whispers like, “It’s a girl,” and “I call dibs.” But I couldn’t see where the voices where coming from. “Here I will help you up.” The guy who was in the box with me. He walked me over too a rope and wrapped his arms around my waist as we were lifted from the box.

“Where am I?” I ask looking around. I was scared and felt faint.

“Welcome to the glade greenie.” Greenie? I asked myself. My name is Cali so why do they keep calling me greenie?

“The glade?” I ask looking at the one who spoke. He was tough looking and was kind of scary. He seemed sort of mean, looked that way some too.

“Yes. We live in a maze. This place is called the glade where us shanks live.” He let me look around before speaking again. “By the way my name’s Alby.” He says. I look at him and smile. “Newt,” He says looking at the boy who went in the box with me. “Show Cali around. Find her a place to sleep. Make sure she won’t be harmed by any of these shanks.” He says looking at all the boys. Then he clears his throat seems like he is too make a speech. “All you shanks better listen up. Anyone who goes near the greenie will have to come through me and Newt. You hurt the girl and I will kill you. You hear?” He asks. All boys reply with either a yes or a head nod.

“Come with me Cali.” Newt says. Newt what a weird name. I think to myself. But I walked with Newt and let him talk. “So here is the glade. Us shanks live here and we work our arses off everyday to keep us busy. You hear?” Newt asks. I nod my head as he keeps talking. I was paying attention but also thinking to myself. Shanks? What is that. Are those the boys? What they are called? Clearly Newt knew I was thinking and stopped and turned to me. “Cali how about I show you where you will be sleeping and then got some food from Frypan.” I nod and we walk towards some building. It was built with wood but looked as if it couldn’t stand straight. But if the shanks trusted it I should as well. I walked inside. Newt led me to a room with two beds. “This is where you will sleep. With me.” Are you kidding me! I think to myself.

“Why?” I ask although I knew I shouldn’t have.

“You see we haven’t had no girls here before. Your the first and these boys are craving you. Now I want to protect you. I need you to cooperate in order for that to happen. Understand?” He asks. I say yes and then look around the rather small room. “The other rooms have many more boys. But it’s just us. It’s not a big room but should do. Also if you need some clothes you can borrow mine until supplies arrive.” I nod and then we walk out.
