"NOOOOOO!" I woke up on the top of a bunk-bed to the sound of my brother screaming bloody-murder. "STOP COMBING MY HAAAAAAIR!" I got out of the bunk-bed, got my clothes on, and walked into the kitchen for a bowl of Protein Weats. As I bit into the stale cereal I thought about my ex-best-friend, Jacob Ross. He was the only kid that wasn't mean to me, but people change. I began wish I had friends.

Me and me brother decided to go to the lake. I wore my cousin Solomon's hand-me-down swim shorts and a Pink Fluid tee-shirt, my brother wore our other cousin, Samuel's hand-me-down speedo. "Don't drown!" I yelled at my brother as he ran into the water.
"Hello!" I heard a calm voice say.
"He-hello!" I jumped, people barely ever talked to me, especially strangers.
"Who... ha-hi... my..." I puffed out my chest. "My name is Rose, Rose Artist!" I said.
"Hi Rose! My name is Viktor Jekyll and this kid," Viktor shoved a kid about my age forwards. "Is my best friend, Criss Hyde!"
"Ha-ha-he-ugh-HI!" Criss spat out.
"Do you like science, math, biology, chemistry, and the paranormal?" Viktor asked.
"Ye-ya!" I said, feeling a little better.
Me, Viktor, and Criss spent all day at the beach talking about our lives, favorite books, favorite movies, favorite elements, favorite computer programs, etc. They became good friends of mine.
"You guys wanna try to catch somthin'?" Criss asked. "Like a fish?"
"Sure!" Viktor said. Criss unloaded a bunch of fishing supplies out of the back of his car.
"Wow! That's heavy!" I said as I carried his takle-box.
"Yeah... I take fish'n VERY seriously!" He said jokingly. I noticed a silght southern accent. "I caught a large-mouth when I was only three!" He bragged.
"GrOsS!" Viktor spat his tongue out as he threaded a worm. "There goes it's organs!" I laughed.
"Oh my gosh!" I said. "Viktorrrrrrr!"
"Andddd... cast!" Criss cast his line. "Now we wait."
It had been a couple hours. My brother had made friends with Viktor's little sister, Izzy. "I've got something, I've got something!" Criss's line pulled him in the lake. "HELP ME!" Criss screamed as something pulled him under.
"Grab on!" Viktor said as he pressed a button on his belt. I took ahold of his hand and my brother jumped on his back "Three... two... one!" Viktor's boots lit on fire and blasted him into the air.
"There it is!" My brother pointed out the monster.
"Ok... steady... steady..." Viktor prepared to drop. Then the monster jumped up and snached my brother off his back.
"Ahhhhhh!" He screamed as he got swallowed alive.
"OH NO! WILLIAM!" I jumped off and on to the monster, Viktor followed. I felt fur. "What the heck?" I pulled.
"ROARRRRRRRRR!" The monster jumped out of the water... and barffed up Criss, my brother, and alot of treasure.
"Money!" My brother said happily. Criss was quite obviously distressed.
"WhAt ThE hEcK jUsT hApPeNeD!" Criss gasped as Viktor helped him up.
"That was one hell of a catfish!" Viktor said. I was feeling around in the treasure and found an amulet.
"Hmmm..." I put it on and felt a bit of energy go through me. "Whoa! Magic!"
Criss's mom picked us up. She turned on the radio and we started singing. "Oh it's really good to have a bud like you!" We sang in unison.
"Mystery squad?" I asked.
"Mystery sqad!" My brother, Viktor, and Criss agreed.
