Chapter 1…
It has been said, in a town secluded from the world, that a female child born to a family with crimson eyes shall be cursed. Misfortune and sorrow would tiptoe across her life, following her for all eternity. She would be cursed with abilities beyond that of any human and damned to hell from the moment she was born; she is destined to become the princess of the underworld.
“Come on!!! We’re going to be late again!!!” Sybil cried out to her brother. Sybil Dred is a 14 year old girl with long straight black hair, skin as pale as the moon, and crimson eyes dark as blood. Sybil was calling out to her brother Sepitus Dred; they were supposed to be heading over to school. Sepitus is Sybil's older, yet immature, brother. He is tall, with short hair as black as his sister's, pale skin, and eyes as blue as the clearest sky. The sibling's father came out of the kitchen, drunk off his ass, to see his son off to school, even though he was not yet downstairs. Their father looks very similar so Sepitus, almost every feature the same, except for the gray streaks in his hair, his brown eyes and the tired worn face of alcoholism and old age. “STOP SMILING THIS INSTANT YOU BITCH!!!” he shouted when he saw Sybil standing there at the bottom of the stairs grinning while she waits for her brother. When she heard her father’s screams she turned around to watch him smack her across the face leaving a red hand print on her cheek. Sybil bowed in apology and whispered “I'm so sorry, sir. It won’t happen again, sir. Please forgive me, sir.” The mother came in whilst Sybil was apologizing. Their mother looks the same as Sepitus as well, with less aging lines then their father and the same brown eyes. She picked up a belt from on the couch and approached Sybil. Sybil saw the belt and began to shake and quiver in fear of the beating that was about to pursuit. “You better be sorry. You bitch. You have never been and never will be any sort of daughter to me!” she raised the belt over her head and was about to strike Sybil when Sepitus came down the stairs. “MOTHER! FATHER! STOP!” he shouted. The tears Sybil was holding back slowly began to flow “oh, Sepitus!” Their father turned back around to face Sybil after he whipped around to see what his son was doing, saw Sybil's tears and struck her once again. Sepitus hurried down the stairs faster, stole his sister from his parent's clutches and held her to his chest, stroking her head as she cried softly into his shoulder. “How could you?! Why can’t you ever just leave her alone?!?! It’s not her fault that you’re an alcoholic!! It’s not her fault her eyes are red!!! None of this is her fault so stop treating her like it is!!!” he continued to yell at his parents as they bowed in apology. “Now if you don’t mind we will be heading off to school now.”
Sepitus, still holding on to his sister, left the house and slammed the door. He opened the passenger door and helped Sybil into the car. She had stopped crying for the most part but now her face was blank, like she was attempting to forget the pain. Sepitus sat in the driver seat and turned the ignition. “Are you okay?” Sybil turned to face her brother and the look of concern on his face broke her. She started tearing up “I'm so sorry. It’s all my fault. You wouldn’t have to go through any of this if I hadn’t been born. You would be…”she was shaking now. Sepitus slammed on the brakes. “IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! None of this is your fault! Sybil, I love you so much and I hate to see you in so much pain. Please don’t say that it is your fault because it’s not. Yes dads a douche, and moms a bitch, but those are there problems and they shouldn’t take that out on you.” Sybil was wide eyed and crying when Sepitus reached over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “Now let’s get to school, the principle won’t be so generous this time” Sepitus gave Sybil a wink and they continued driving into a place Sybil likes to call ‘2nd hell’.
Sybil has one more year of middle school before she can go with her brother to the high school. Though all the buildings are connected; elementary, middle, and high school, Sybil would feel so much better if she could be so much closer to her brother. Of course the kids at school have heard of the legend and of course all most all the parents told their children to avoid her. The ones who didn’t tell their kids to avoid her told them to make her life a living hell. So, besides kindergarten where all the kids are too stupid to know any better, she has been bullied her whole life. She has only two friends and one of them is her brother. “Hey, Sybil! Wait up!” cried a voice behind her. Sybil smiled as she turned around to see her best friend Kat run clumsily down the hall. “Hey, Kat. What’s up?” Sybil said with a chuckle. “THE SKY!!” Kat screamed. The two girls broke out in an uproar in the middle of the hallway. The pleasant mood was only ruined when an asshat student walked by and knocked Sybil’s books out of her hands saying “laugh it up, bitch. You’re only going to cause her pain you know.” The kid walked away as Kat sent a bunch of curses at him. Sybil had that blank look on her face again and she leaned down to pick up her stuff, not blinking even once. “People are jerks, they all suck. Hey, are you okay?” Sybil hadn’t even noticed that Kat had been trying to talk to her until Kat put a hand on her shoulder and waved in her face. Sybil flinched and seemingly woke up from her defensive state. “Oh, sorry, yea I'm okay. Let’s just go. Okay?” “Okay” they both picked up the rest of her stuff and walked to class.
