On the morning of February 1st, Gotham City awakened to cold, crisp air below the shining sun. The streets were less crowded than any other time of day, as the city groggily awakened from it's bustling nightlife, before getting up to start a new day. However, there were two certain individuals who did happen to awaken at this certain early hour of the morning. And each would receive the same little message on their computer, usually in the same hour. 'You've got mail!' it would read as they both clicked on their computer screen to read what the other had wrote, before typing a response. This morning was no different. And when Lori Holden opened her mail first that morning, she typed -

(Subject: Early Bird.)

Dear W.B093,

What a surprise that I have not received any contact from you this morning! How unusual,  I thought you were the early bird between us. I guess I am early to the keyboard this morning but I couldn't wait. I am moving into a flat of my own and my parents have finally decided to let me off their short leash of controlling affection! It is small but comfortable, tall with an amazing view over the city! And next time I write to you, I shall be there. It's strange, but every time I wake up, my day is already bound to be spectacular as I see that I have once again, received mail, from you.....

Lori was content with her message, and quickly sent it. She sighed dreamily as she leaned on her desk, looking out the window at the morning mist that gently coated the streets below. "Miss Lori!" she heard her attendant call from outside the bedroom door. Well, Amanda wasn't really an attendant of sorts, she was more between being Lori's mother and being Lori's friend. Because of this, Lori saw her simply as her companion. "Are you even awake?" Amanda asked, opening the door to see if she was or not. Lori scrambled to shut off her computer as quickly as she could. Amanda was someone she trusted, but no one knew about her messages with W.B093! And she knew if she told her, Amanda was give her a whole lecture on strangers and the family business, and most likely never let Lori near a computer again! It's not like she discussed Holden Enterprises with W.B093. Lori was careful to be very discreet with her life when on the internet. Being the eldest child of the Holden family didn't really help either.

"Ah, there you are. Breakfast is in ten minutes and after that we're off." Amanda told her, picking up stray pieces of clothing that were scattered about Lori's bedroom floor. "K, are Daniel and Hattie up yet?" Lori asked, looking through her wardrobe, throwing the rest of her clothes onto the floor behind her. Amanda sighed at the scene before her. "Master Daniel is in the games room and miss Hattie has not awoken yet, and don't you even dare say that you don't have any clothes because we just went shopping yesterday!"

"Well, we need to go shopping again, because there is now a sale on in Forever 21 and their new collection of tops is just what I need for the rest of February." Lori stated, deciding to wear a pair of jeggings and one of the new jumpers she got the day before. "I'll leave you to get dressed and then, young lady, it is time for breakfast." Amanda said sternly before darting out the bedroom door, and closing it behind her. Lori stood there for about a minute or so to check if she had gone before rushing over to her computer to start it up again. And much to her delight the little icon went off. 'You've got mail!' it chirped. Lori smiled to herself and opened the email in excitement.

(Subject: Berkley.)

Dear Shopgirl24/7,

Yes, it does appear you have logged on before me but I do have a reason for my lateness. As you know, I have recently bought a dog and have decided to name him Berkley, as you suggested previously. This morning when I awoke, he had somehow managed to open my door and make his way onto my bed and in the end, on top of me. As much as I am proud I have a smart dog, I am a little let down to know that I shall now be the second to the keyboard. Being the early bird did indeed have it's benefits and satisfactions but I'm sure second will suit me just fine. As for the subject of your new flat, congratulations! If you are happy with it, then I will be too. And as for your parents, I'm sure they love you very much. Not to sound soppy but I miss my parents, very much. Don't take them for granted. As for last part of your letter, I must confess I feel the exact same when I receive mail from you...

-W.B093

Lori found herself feeling very sentimental about the last line of W.B093's message, and desperately wanted to type a reply but knew it could wait, because if she wasn't down in the kitchen in 5 minutes, she would be trouble.

When Lori arrived at the kitchen door, she saw her 8-year old brother sitting at the table chomping through his pancakes at incredible speed, and as usual leaving all the strawberries and blueberries on the side. On the other side of the table was her 14-year old sister Hattie, who was still in her pink striped pajamas, and who was eating her pancakes with actual cutlery unlike her brother who didn't even know what cutlery was. "Morning!" Lori said, going over to the table to grab herself some food before it ultimately disappeared for good. "Morning." Daniel piped up, before immediately returning his attention to his food. "Uh, Daniel! Stop eating like a pig." Hattie snarled in disgust. "I'm just following the example of your million boyfriends Hattie." Daniel fought back. "At least people actually like me! How many friends do you have Daniel? Like four?"

"At least we're actual mates and don't talk about each other behind our backs!" Daniel retorted. Hattie was about to say something when Mrs Holden entered the room. "Hattie, get dressed. And for heaven's sake Daniel, be a civilised human being at the table." their mother scolded. Hattie rolled her eyes and strutted out the room. Daniel just kept on eating. "Got your outfit ready for tonight?" Lori's mother asked, walking over to her.

"Mom, we talked about this-"

"Look, Hattie and Daniel are too young, and if you are going to inherit Holden Enterprises, this would be a great chance to make your debut. And me and your father have already told everyone you are going to be there." Mrs Holden said calmly. Lori sighed and was about to say something when her mother continued.

"And yes, you can take Amanda if you want to. They also say that Bruce Wayne will be there. If we want this deal to go through with Wayne Enterprises, we need to be civilised. He is about your age....."

"I'm not going to date some stuck up billionaire, mom!"

"I never said that! It would just be good if you could make friends. He will most definitely have a lot of powerful connections." Mrs Holden said before Daniel butted in. "Mom? can you help me do my tie?" Daniel whined. Lori shared a knowing look with her mother before walking up the stairs to her room.
"Wow." Lori exclaimed as she entered her bedroom. All her clothes had been packed in black bags and all her shoes had been boxed. "There you are!" Amanda said, picking up two shoe boxes. "Will we be taking the computer?" Amanda asked Lori as she exited the room.

"Definitely."
