Chapter 1 - The Athena's Cannon.

The human being in it's infinte curiosity has wish to discover all the mysteries that this universe hides, however, it's thirst of knowledge and extense contemplation to the stars has taken to realize diverse and exhausting research towards the study of the Cosmos and even if it was true that there's a huge number of galaxies and stars, there was a lot to explore. The questions that emerge of all thousands of theories and experiments to future days that would shut up many of the doubts that they had and at same time, others will come out.

After so many experiments and theories, finally, it was acepted, the existance of the so called alternate dimensions, not only alternate worlds but layers of reality that looked similar each other but then they would go more to chaos and the unknown, the dear reader that is looking at these words may imagine that maybe a lot of things that exists in all those dimencions are in fact connected to the psique and the imagination as other anormalities that happens in the world.

 After many years of experiments and theories, the Scientific and Technologic Asociation of the Exploration of the Cosmos or STAEC, finally finished with one of it's most ambicious proyects: it was a type of massive and spectacular cannon that would shot a laser of a specific frequence and power that wouldn't mean any potential danger for human race in the form of a sequence of sounds and lights that in the words of many of the experts that helped in the design of this unusual method of comunication, will be understood for all the beings of other dimencions that they theorize they would exist. The moment that the cannon will be shot would be a may twelve, an information that was announced to the rest of the world as an special even in the sky, even there was so many people that thought about the potential danger that supposes to have the human race exposed to life forms unknown.

At 3:27 am, the big cannon majestically emerged of the solid steel doors that were opened slowly, the people was surpriced to see the great colossus of countless metals and cables around that seems to be the arm of some lost divinity due it's complexity; a design almost divine and worthy of the admiration of the people that waited with patience and emotion the shot of Athena. Even some skeptics thought that even if the canon fails on it's purpose, would be a show of titanic proportions that wouldn't repeat again, at least until the fuel of the cannon can be refill again, however, this special fuel was near imposible to be manufactured synthetically, thus it was news around the world. It was like everyone were expecting new year, and was shown on televisions and the media, even in some theaters that transmit the event from a projector and a laptop with internet access.

Finally and after so much waiting, a massive sound provoqued an earthquake in the earth that was announcing the shooting of the canon. Everyone were using sunglasses to avoid any risk and in a blink, the multicolor light came out of the metallic mouth of the device. It was like the sun being captured letting it's shine through a prism, a colossal spectacle like it wasn't seen or narrated in the history of human kind. It make all movie effects, all the past events and all the imagination told by fictional or religious books look like a vague childish idea. Many people couldn't resist the lights and looked away, others end up with blindness and many with smiles on their faces, contemplate this great proyect that wouldn't repeat in a long time. However, the result of shooting the Athena's canon didn't took long and the result was a chaos in the sky.

All the reporters with their cameras, all the people with their smartphones, the observatories and the people in general were shocked looking up the sky. The result of shooting the canon took just two minutes and after this, where it was darkness and stars, there was now a blood red sky to let pass a red mist that was getting more dense like if a space colossus was hurt and the mere presence of this grotesque show in the atmosphere caused a lot of confussion and panic: something was done, an event that was under piles and piles of paper in the discarted theories sections. But it wasn't the sky of menacing color the only thing that shocked the world, it would be just that to consider it just a curious effect, this was something else... Not only there was this anomaly in the sky, but it also appeared with grotesque detail, an amalgam of giant green eyes of many sizes sinkied in a flesh pulp, beating and bloody. There were also veins, nerves and other muscles that look like to be a macabre mass of disgusting images and forms beyond imagination. It was like if all human kind was being inside in a womb of an alien being that is best to not to think about. But all in all, the impact that caused in all the globe was colossal and drive insane thousands of people. This phenomena lastes just few seconds, but all the people felt it like eternity and such event would be forever in their memories just like internet and the media.  

After all this vision of flesh and blood, the sky was cleared, there was a spectral silence around the world, maybe expecting any explanation of the scientists behind the project or maybe waiting what would happen next... but the silence soon was broken by the sudden screams of the people that start running with no direction, scared, insane for what they saw, there was a chaos in the streets by the people drive into madness. The authorities, who resisted this revelation in all the strenght of the human mind, tried to compose and do their job trying to keep the order that dissapeared in the heads of the world. It was hard the work to contain the crazy people that were attacking to everything in front of them, to control the people that screaming to the point to bleed with rigid muscles, the women that were tearing their hair, and the children that were running one side to another looking for their parents. It was all a chaos that lasted some days and the screams that were making echo where there was silent streets saying it was the end of the world didn't help at all, until after a while, the calm returned to the world, not without takin a lot of lives in the middle of the madnes adding various damaged business in all this disorder.

The military finish to put order in the streets by force, the corpses that were laying in the floor, all the trash was cleaned and the people with guns that reacted aggressively at any interaction was neutralized with no mercy. In the news the amount of deaths didn't stop, a lot of reporters in different countries responded to the cameras about the sequels that was considered the Day that Human Kind gone Crazy. In the news there was reporters giving their opinion about the poor situation of the countries that most suffered damage.

After regaining calm, the government, repented for allowing the STAEC institute to fire the cannon, ordered the rest of the army to enter the facilities and destroy everything inside, including the famous Athena cannon, which due to its colossal size It was shot down with the best technology of fighter planes, but not before imprison all the scientists and astronomers who participated in the project. Because of all the damage they caused throughout the world, even unconsciously and at the same time, exposing them to potential harm that wasn't discarted, all the staff was guilty and sentenced to life.

In social networks, every time a video was uploaded regarding the Red Night at a different angle it was immediately a viral success, the morbid took over the whole Internet, the amount of theories about it did not stop and literally hundreds of thousands of opinions regarding to the event of that terrible night, positive or pessimistic, each person told his own version with some alterations that far from being rational, they confused the masses, as expected there were the paranoids who frightened the Internet with pessimistic opinions and discouragements, others they took it with humor and millions of edited images went viral to at least reduce a little the horror that supposed to be under the sight of one or several beings that now had them in their sights, and something in which everyone agreed, was that whatever the giant thing that looked at them that night, was now aware of the existence of the planet, only one question, Who or what was that mass of flesh that covered the world that night?

The religious said that it was the Devil himself, others claimed to have seen God, the non-believers affirmed that it was an extraterrestrial or dimensionless creature and even several scientists of great reputation couldn't discard any of the opinions mentioned above because they were so confused in the infinite sea of ​​theories and superstitions. The truth was that although no significant damage occurred because of what appeared in the sky and even the chaos that broke out in the world, the society of each country would be forever marked by human nature to react in such a way to an event unknown. As it was going to be marked forever by the events of the subsequent days.
