We all walk in together and I lock the door behind me "Hey mom." Her head pops up from behind a cupboard door. "Hey sweetie. Stacy, Alex." Then she goes back to cooking.
"Whatcha cookin mom?" I ask
"Just spaghetti, green beans, and garlic bread." She gives me a taste, I nod giving her my approval. "Dinner will be ready in a few minutes."
We head upstairs to my room which is one of my most favorite places in the world because it's my place, filled with my stuff, a place where my thoughts can wander, With frozen memories hanging in frames on every wall to the drawers of art supplies. And the plus, outside mt window there space for me to sit out on the roof and look at the stars in the sky. Which is what Stacy and I call my secret place, even though Alex has been up there with us before.
We all sit on the floor me and Stacy lean against my bed and Alex sits across from us on my black bean-bag. We start our homework, not breaking the silence except for the occasional "How did you do this problem ?" and "Why is this so hard." A occasional eye contact and laughter at points. After our brains are blown up with math equations and spanish words Alex and Stacy head to the door to leave. Before Stacy leaves he hugs me and whispers in my ear
