A/N
Hey guys! this fanfic is starting right around the same point in the timeline as the first episode in the K Project, and I'm going to stick to it pretty closely, so if you read a scene that looks familiar, you aren't going crazy.

HOMERA headquarters.
Suoh Mikoto blew a cloud of smoke into the air and sighed. He had a meeting with the Blue King at noon. It was eleven thirty. Mikoto stood up and flicked ash onto the floor.
The door opened into a regretfully calm scene. Kusanagi Izumo was cleaning his beloved glasses behind the bar. Yata was messing around on his p hone, his tattered sneakers up on one of the tables, Anna sitting next to him, looking around at the room through her little red marble. Anna was the first one to spot him. Mikoto saw her eye widen for a moment through the tiny red glass ball.
"Mikoto!" She leapt up and ran over to grab at his hand.
"Ah," Kusanagi put the glass down on the bar, "Mikoto-san"
Mikoto continued forward to the door, "I'm going out." He said, his hands in his pockets. He glanced down at Anna, who was clinging on to the cuff of his sleeve, then back up at Kusanagi. "Keep an eye on Anna."
"Yeah." Mikoto caught a glimpse of him going back to his work as the door swung shut.
Mikoto continued down the street, thoughts swirling in his head. The others had taken the loss of Totsuka Tatara pretty hard, Anna especially, though he suspected that it hadn't really sunk in yet. He sighed again. He needed to see Reisi. The guilt over Tatara's death was eating at him inside.
Mikoto continued walking, stuck in his head so the world around him soon became a slow, droning monotone, his necklace beating against his chest, the chain clinking against his leg with every step.
"Suoh!" The voice startled him out of his reverie. He glanced up. He was just outside SCEPTER 4, he had made it there without eve thinking about it, and Reisi was standing right in front of him. Mikoto nearly gave in to the temptation to fall into his arms but managed to restrain himself. they were in public after all.
"You're early." Reisi turned his face slightly to the side, a light tinge of pink rising in his cheeks.
Mikoto grinned. "I never do follow directions, do I?"
Reisi turned a shade pinker. "No, you don't."
Mikoto turned away, gesturing with his shoulder for Reisi to follow. "Come on, Pretty Boy."

As soon as they got far enough away from HOMERA and SCEPTER 4 and there was nobody around, Mikoto shoved Reisi up against a wall just inside a dark alley.
"Damn it, this sucks. I just..." Mikoto's voice trailed off and he buried his face in the lapels of Reisi's coat. "Tatara... He's dead, and I... I... I d-don't know what to do..." He choked out trying to stifle his sobs.
"Hey..." Reisi placed a hand hesitantly on Mikoto's back. He didn't know what to say. Mikoto alway's acted so tough, but the more he did, the more he let out whenever they were alone together. He sighed. This was hard. Mikoto had let out his insecurities to him countless times, but Reisi had never seen him cry before.
Reisi pressed his lips to the top of tMikoto's spiky head. "Alleys have an echo, Mikoto. Come on." They continued on their way, Mikoto hastily wiping away his tears on the sleeve of his coat, his other hand clasping Reisi's.
By the time Reisi and Mikoto reached the small apartment that Reisi owned in one of the more suburban areas of the city, Mikoto was acting far more jovially, though Reisi could still see the hit of sadness and guilt that lingered just behind Mikoto's eyes. Mikoto opened the door at the top of the stairs and sprawled himself out on the couch. he beckoned to Reisi, a gleam in his eyes. With a faint smile, Reisi came and lay down next to him. Mikoto clasped him in his arms and the two simply lay there in silence until Reisi said,
I can't believe Seri is still the only one who knows about us." Reisi smiled to himself. He loved saying us. It made him and Mikoto sound intertwined, and he loved that.
Mikoto frowned. He liked being with Reisi, but at the same time he knew that if HOMERA knew that he and the Blue King  had been seeing each other for nearly a year it would make the clansmen start treating him extremely differently. Mikoto shuddered.

"What is it?" Reisi asked.

"I just realized... Tatara never knew..." His voice trailed off and he clasped Reisi tighter. "I always wanted to tell him. He was trustworthy." This time, Mikoto's voice didn't shake with grief. Rather, it was cold and hard as steel.
