Waiting For You [Jalexis]

Chapter 1- Crush?

Alexis giggled, watching as her best friend Cynthia duct taped their bottle rocket horribly. The duct tape had little gummy bears on it that Cynthia just couldn't get over. Olivia reached her arms over Alexis to help Cynthia duct tape the rocket, smiling up at the rest of the class.

"You really can't do this, can you?" She joked, motioning toward the awkward placed strips of duct tape. Cynthia rolled her eyes dramatically, tossing her blonde and pink hair over her shoulders.

"I told you guys not to trust me, I'm not good at this whole 'actually-do-a-good-job thing, I usually just wing it." She said defensively. "Ask Vic! I can't do anything!"

Victoria snapped her head up, laughing at Cynthia's adorable dramatic gestures. "Sure, babe, whatever you say. Fred and I couldn't even trust you with our Minecraft castle!" She exclaimed, taking Vic's hand in hers, pulling her away from the rocket.

"Oh please, Olivia and I are wayyy cuter." Riley scoffed, hugging Olivia from behind. Vic scoffed along with Fred who came in from the bathroom just down the hall.

"I think Brandon and I won that." Fred said sassily. "I'd show you, but sadly he's stuck in math instead of science." He laughed a little, turning his back just to shoot his head back at them, his perfectly styled blonde hair barely moving. "And by the way, Riley and I's rocket has it in the bag."

Alexis rolled her eyes at all the couple talk. All of her best friends had boyfriends already, so where was her prince charming? Maybe he is stuck in a tree somewhere... she giggled to herself at the thought of some kid in a tree. She really hoped he wasn't, she liked climbing and all, but she wasn't all googly eyed over the idea of her prince not being able to get himself down. What a woos.

Gulping down a big chunk of her PB&J sandwich, Alexis glared up at Cynthia who was too busy flirting with Vic to notice her. "Uhm, Cynth?" She said, clearing her throat. No response or even a glance. "Cynthia." Nope. "CYNTHIA ROSE!" Nada. Her best friend Jason looked over at her and laughed.

"Hard to get that one's attention, she loves to talk. It's as if she can never stop." He waved his hands dramatically. Alexis laughed, rolling her eyes.

"So I've noticed. I just wanted to be a nice friend and invite her to climb this cool tree with me but noooo. She's too busy canoodling." She said, mimicking Cynthia's actions. Who was, by the way, talking to Vic about the latest Doctor Who episode in which Alexis hadn't watched yet.

"Well, I can always go climb it with you! I love trees.... that sounded weird. I love CLIMBING trees. Yeah, that's better." He exclaimed, motioning out to the back of the high school where a huge oak was planted. Alexis nodded and the two hopped out of their seats, waving to their group (Cynthia, Vic, Olivia, Riley, Fred, Brandon, and a few others who were just kinda there) and ran off outside to the tree.

Alexis propped her backpack onto the green grass beneath the tree, gasping a little at its height. It was a tall tree, but it was bulky it was climbable. She put one foot on the trunk and pulled herself up, inching her way up to a high up branch that could hold both her and Jason, who trailed behind at a good pace, trying not to get in her way.

They sat up on the branch in silence for a bit, giggling at random things. The bell rang not too long after, startling them both.

"Crap! I have calculus next! And Mr.Smith hates late students!" She exclaimed, allowing Jason to climb down first. After he landed on the ground, Alexis freaked. She couldn't find a safe way down. She was short, so it would be harder to get to the branches a far way below her.

That's when it struck her. She wasn't going to find a prince in a tree: a prince would find her stuck in a tree and the prince? He had to be Jason.
