The detectives stopped at Detective Medina's house after their lunch and dropped off Garrett's suitcases. Garrett was surprised at the massive Colonial structure. Jose went on to explain that the house had come up on the market from an estate sale and was going for a very low price because it needed extensive work. All the furnishings had come with the house. Jose had already replaced the roof and had the plumbing and wiring repaired. He had upgraded the kitchen and bathrooms and was now working on the interior woodwork. The place was really shaping up. There were six bedrooms, five bathrooms and a master chef's kitchen. "You have six bedrooms?" Garrett asked. "Yeah and I need them especially around the holidays, I have a very big family and my brother is a chef in one of the finest restaurants on the Island" Jose said, " There is always plenty of food and prepared meals in the kitchen thanks to my brother." Jose showed Garrett to one of the bedrooms. In it was a massive four-poster bed. Garrett went over to it and put his bags down at the foot of it. "Wow, this stuff is old, very old. My mother would be drooling over it. She collects Victorian era antiques, so if you ever decide to get rid of any of it, give me a call" he said. Jose smiled. " I'll remember that. This house is full  of them from the rafters to the basement" Jose said as they went back downstairs. Jose showed Garrett the rest of the house. Garrett was amazed at the size of the kitchen and the gleaming new appliances that graced it. The refrigerator was a massive commercial one and it was fully stocked. The stovetop was in the center island and had eight burners with a grill in the middle. Garrett headed  to the back door and opened it. The yard wasn't huge but was big enough to host a large family and at least a dozen friends for a bbq with a small inground pool to have some fun in. The back of the house was surrounded by a nice sized deck. "This is nice but it makes me miss the mountains back home and the lake that I played in as a kid" Garrett said wistfully. Sam patted him on the shoulder. "There's nothing like home because that is where the heart is, my Abuelita always said" Jose said as he came outside. "You've done a remarkable job with this place. When you finally meet the right girl, she will be ecstatic to be living here, mark my words" Garrett replied. "Yeah, as long as she isn't one of those stuck up, modernistic, workaholics" Jose replied, chuckling.

(Sorry this chapter is so short but it was just a filler and a bridge for the next one 🤷 )
