Under Cover: The gala that created the spark

Emotions And Curiosity : chpt 3

Robins P.O.V
I'm not quite sure what was going through my head, I just felt the erg to reach towards Wally...  I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't stopped myself, but I froze with my arms sticking out towards Wally slightly.  What do I do, how do I quickly cover up whatever I was doing and make this less awkward...  Quickly I take hold of Wally's biceps and squeeze them slightly, then I give him a smile.
"At least I will have you here to make this gala less lame!" I say jokingly, "I'll change in my closet, tell me when it's okay to come out."  YES!!!  I COVERED UP PERFECTLY!!!!  But I think I just did a dad thing... did I do a dad thing? Is it a dad thing to squeeze someones arm and say something vaguely comforting? I go into my closet before something awkward happens again.  I have a walk in closet, so I have lots of space to change into my other suit.  Bruce says since I'm his ward I should have a suit be my casual attire, and another suit be my 'fancy' suit.  They don't look anymore or less fancy than me, but I got to keep up my image I guess...

Wally's P.O.V
DAMN IT, why does Dick have to be so cute all the time????  It's because of that cute smile of his I have troubles hiding my bisexual with being as straight as possible.  Honestly I'm not even interested in M'gann, I just flirt with her so no one suspects a thing.  I think it's working so far.  No one expects the annoyingly straight dude to not be straight! Well, now that I've stopped blushing, I should get changed before Rob finishes changing and want out of his closet.

A couple minutes later

Dick and I wait in his lounge room for the others to finish changing.  While we wait we joke around, make references to jokes only we understand, the usual stuff.  Damn, it feels like I'm describing us like we're a married couple... We are in the middle of a laughing fit when someone interrupts us.
"You two seem to be getting along well.  I am surprised someone like Wally could even properly communicate with someone like 'him'," says a less than impressed sounding Artemis as she walks down the stairs towards us.  I look toward her and smirk, now I know what Dick meant by 'wait till you see the others outfits'.  Arty is wearing a tight green cocktail dress, the seams lined with yellow, and to top it off a yellow belt with and arrow shaped belt buckle.  Following her are the others.  Conner's wearing black dress pants, a red blouse and tie, and a black vest.  M'gann's dress is a fancy sundress, with white at the top and fades to dark blue.  She also has a red sash with a bow at the hip.  Then, finally there is Kalder, he has a crimson suit with a yellow belt.  They all look absolutely stunning in their outfits, and I can't help but smile at how well Dick made their gala wear look like their super suits.  He is so amazing, his attention to detail is so perfect, and I thought I couldn't be anymore in love with him.  I shake my head remembering what Artemis just said.
"What are you getting at with that comment, you think I'm stupid and can't talk to anyone higher than middle class?" I retort.
"Hey, you said it not me," she states back.  We continue to bicker on like this for quite a while.

Dick's P.O.V
I watch how Wally smiles at Arty as she walks down the stairs.  He seems to have some deep emotion behind his eyes as he watches her decent.  What chance could I ever have with him when he looks at her like that.  They start bickering again, it seems it's the only way they ever communicate with one another.  I think they do it to hide their feelings.  I'm a lost cause, there is no way he'd ever date me when he has her, besides, we're both guys and... he likes girls...  I guess all I can do is be happy that he could be happy with her. 
"There you all are, Master Richard, the gala starts shortly.  You and the hero's should go to the ballroom at once and get ready to greet the guests," Alfred my butler interrupts my pitiful thoughts. Wait that's right, I have a butler, I am the Dick Grayson!! My life doesn't revolve around being in love with Wally! I am my own person! But, I still would be a lot happier if I was dating him... I guess that's how it works, I can be me and be happy as just me, but I can also know I'd be happier if I was his, without my crush on him defining me as a person.
"Okay, we'll get going in a bit, thank you Alfred," I say, feeling my confidence boost back up. "Alright hero's, lets go!" I tell the group, and they follow me to the ballroom.

Artemis's P.O.V
Just as M'gann and I finish changing, I hear a loud roar of laughter coming from downstairs. I sigh and roll my eyes knowing that my suspicions were right. Dick knew Wally was an easy target and has him hooked in his nasty rich boy clutches. He's going to build up his trust and then eat him like the shark he is.

Flashback
I was walking down the hall my first day at Gotham academy. So not too too long ago, when I turned the corner to see a group of snooty looking students, staring down something who most definitely got in because of their grades.
"You think you can just give Richard Grayson a love letter, and not suffer the consequences? No one is allowed to break the rules!" One of them began yelling as the other pinned the poor kid to the lockers.
"I- uh... what do you... I didn't- what rules?" The kid stuttered, other the kid was that scared or had a stutter, either way it didn't matter, it encouraged them more.
"Oh poor kid doesn't know the rules?" One chimed.
"Sad little nerd! Not like the rules would of mattered anyways. No way Grayson would except that love letter." Another said.
"Yes, too bad. Guess we'll have to give you a hands on teaching!" The first bully said, then through a punch straight into their face, "the rules are that Grayson belongs to no one! He is too perfect for any scum like you to tarnish. No one is allowed to make any advances!"
"Should-shouldn't he get to-... be allowed to-make that-that choice himself?" The kid half questioned half pleaded.
I didn't see anymore of that interaction. I had already seen enough to know Richard Grayson was a rich scumbag who only hung out with hot and rich individuals, who were dumb and violent enough to do his bidding.

End of flash back
Ahhgh!!!! I hate that boy! No matter what front he puts up tonight, I will always see though people like him. Now he's ensnared Wally, and I need to save him. I don't really like Wally much, he's kind of an annoying brother to me... but he is an annoying brother that I love!! Besides no matter what I will always hate Richard Grayson more than I hate Wally! Now to save that idiot by starting a fight with him.
I stormed out of the room, leaving a confused M'gann to chase after me. I passed Conner and Kaulder on my way to the stairs. And once I was at the top. I looked straight at the two, laughing their hearts out. And spouted a very sloppily coordinated insult at Wally.

M'gann's P.O.V
So, I may have realized an important factor that really benefits my job of keeping Wally and Dick apart. Though, I'm starting to feel a little guilty, and I'm not sure I can hide it for much longer. Being someone who can change their every attribute whenever, it makes it pretty easy for me to spot someone in disguise. I hadn't noticed at first because he looked and acted so different, but then I saw the resemblance... I probably wouldn't have noticed at all honestly, until I saw the look Dick Grayson gave when Wally got distracted by Arty. It was the exact same expression Robin always gave. He'd always look jealous at first, then sad, and then finally he would recover without a trace. It only takes a couple seconds, no one would notice unless they have practiced reading others.
But, I didn't know for certain until I read his mind. That's why I'm feeling so guilty, I'm only supposed to read the bad guys minds... I just had to know, it was eating at me so much!!! So.. I took my chance once we properly began our mission...

Wow I think this might be one of my longer chapters!!! I'm proud of myself!!! Thank you for your patience with this slow update!!!
