Suit and tie. Wine glasses. Night dresses and gowns. Vintage-looking function room.
A time to unwind and just chill with co-athletes and others while listening to a live band. This should be the ideal event to spend an ideal night to.
I know I would have enjoyed this if she weren't here clinging to me and if she were here. She should be here, actually. She told me she will be.
Maybe she couldn't decide what to wear? No she's not that type of girl to take too long to choose an outfit.
My eyes turned away from the door and went to my friends because they hooted when the band started to play a new song.
"Woooh!" "Brooos! This is my jam!" I shook my head at them. Such gays! Of course, it made me chuckle.
"Your friends are weird" She noted with a scrunched face. I just ignored her and went back to looking out for the door to open.
You walked into the room, your eyes like two full moons
As if going with the lyrics, the door burst open and it revealed two girls. One tall and one average. Both morenas. Both beautiful in their evening gown although only one actually caught my eyes.
"Ara! You guys are finally here!" An even taller girl went to and hugged the both of them.
I wasn't sure if it's the adverse effects of the alcoholic beverages I was drinking ever since this party started or it's the reality but her smile made my brain stop the trails of worried, annoyed, and messy thoughts. It did make my heart beat faster than the usual though.
You smiled discretely, stole me completely
So entranced was I, the devil danced in my heart
Green-eyes monster visited me when I saw the entwined hands of the two girls who just walked in.
"Thomas, isn't that your idol? She's a lesbian?" Judgment was evident in her face and I couldn't take the irritation.
"Excuse me, I'll just get drinks. I think I need more." More like I need to get away from you.
I headed staight to the table full of unlimited food and drinks. I was pouring beer in a cup when I felt a presence beside me and heard a whisper. "Pwede ba magsabi ng isang sikreto?" I tensed up. I know who this is. I can feel my body tingling. I can't stop the smile from coming.
Oo, kinikilig ako.
"Ayaw kong magtagal dito. Pwede bang umalis na lang tayo? Busy naman lahat ng tao eh; walang makakakita."
I looked around and almost everyone is dancing. If not, they are eating and chatting with their own set of friends. It's also pretty obvious that almost half or already half are drunk. Oh well. It's not like anyone outside of this party will know.
Perks of exclusive parties.
I knew you came with him(her) but I just didn't care
You smiled and asked if I could keep a secret
You whispered in my ear, "Take me away from here"
We ran out as fast as we could. The garden. How romantic. And cliche. Well, after all, our love story is cliche. Besides, you're lying if you say you don't enjoy cliche.
"Grabe, pagkapasok ko pa lang, nakita ko kaagad yang annoyed face mo. Sama mo talaga sa girlfriend-slash-fiancee mo! Tsk!" Pangaasar niya.
"Sus! Saya niyo kasi ng girlfriend niyo! Holding hands pa!" I didn't bother to counter her tease. I was too damn irritated.
"Selos ka naman! Hahaha!" Nakuha niya pang tumawa.
"You wanna go out of here talaga? Let's go back na lang pag matatapos na 'tong Athlete's Night!" I offered. She just nodded and didn't say anything since her whole face was hiding on my shoulder and neck. I did feel the movement of her lips though. Alam kong kinikilig din siya.
I've got a car if you wanna drive, take you all the way to the coastline
No one knows about you and I so let's keep this love undercover
We went to my car with my left arm around her shoulder and her right arm around my waist. No one is talking yet the atmosphere still seems light and, well, full of love
Driving around Manila is fun when it's the middle of the night. No traffic. No noise. No heat. Full of city lights. Refreshing wind. Calm atmphoshere.
I don't know how we reached Manila Bay but we did. We both went out of the car and went on the hood of my car.
"Malapit ka na grumaduate ah. It's your fifth year na next year."
"Good luck sa PSL." My only reply. "Good luck sa wedding niyo ni name-alike." pangaasar niya nanaman. "Good luck sa pagsabi kay Bang na panakip butas lang talaga siya." I countered.
"Do you think you'll miss me like how you miss Mika?" I asked seriously as I lie down and lay my head on her lap.
"Malamang." Sagot niya na may kasama pang halik sa noo. I grinned. "Buti naman. Kasi ako, sobra sobra kitang mamimiss!"
"Malapit na talaga tayo matapos 'no? I mean, malapit na matapos ang party. Tapos na 'tong UAAP season na 'to. After, I won't be in La Salle anymore and we won't see each other na." Tuloy tuloy niyang sabi.
"Acceptance na lang siguro." I commented.
"At least this happened and we enjoyed and learned." I continued.
"I think you'll forever stay in my heart." I honestly said.
She just nodded and let her lips touch mine to answer back all the things I've said. I felt a tear drop and it completed what she really was trying to say.
I love her. She loves me.
Too bad, there are unexplainable laws in life that can never be changed.
This love was never made to last, tonight is happening so fast
I know I can't share this to any of my friends or family now but someday I know I will be proud to say Ara Galang once made me experience the real meaning of happiness. I experienced it undercover but I really didn't care. It still happened and I'm glad it did.
