My War

Chapter 1(Alessia)

Moorcliff, Chuinia

Dust filled my eyes. The screams and cries of the town filled my ears. Children cried for their mothers, panic spreading throughout the town like wildfire. Men and women, young and old, laid on the ground in puddles of blood, their bodies littering the streets. The town of Moorcliff had been bombarded and invaded, the war with Xobrea had started, and no one had been ready for the horror to come.

When the town had been bombarded, I had been out to buy bread and meat, since it was close to Christmas Eve. My sister and I planned to prepare a feast for our neighbors and our small family of two. However, those plans were spoiled by the war. When the bombing started, I hid in a destroyed shop. I hated war, I hated death, and I wished that this war wasn't happening.

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by the cries of a young girl calling my name, "Alessia!". The young girl's voice sounded familiar. I then realized who the voice belonged to, and quickly ran out of the shop, hurtling myself towards the cries. I swerved into an alley and saw the girl who cried my name. It was my sister, Scarlet. She was being forced into a truck by two soldiers, both wearing the Xobreain army uniform. They were trying to capture Scarlet!

I screamed, running towards them when two other Xobreain soldiers grabbed my arms and held me back. I thrashed and kicked, struggling to get out of their strong grasps. I heard the sounds of my sister screaming my name and grunting. Then, she suddenly fell quiet. I started to struggle more when I heard the sound of the truck's engine starting.

By the time the soldiers let me go, it was too late. The truck had driven away, away with my sister, my family. One of the soldiers kicked me to the ground, snickering, then walked away with his buddy. I laid there, starting to sob. War had taken away my parents, now it was taking away my sister.
