This is something I wrote in like a minute for a short prompt we were given at the start if one of my English classes. This is what I came up with, DISCLAIMER: it sucks.
I still remember when the monitor flat-lined.
The prolonged single note, making everyones breathing falter until the only sound was the flat-line and the distant noise of shuffling feet and murmured voices. Everything became background noise to the flat-line.
It still haunts me today, knowing that even with our constant advance in technology, it sometimes can't be enough.
I never obsessed with the desire that comes with living. forever, although the the flat-line is inevitable, it still comes as an unwelcome shock.
When I walk the streets, dirtied by old technology, abandoned by alleyways and rusting, I can only hear the constant ringing of the faded memory of the flat-line, which seems to fit perfectly with the machines low on life, and finally shutting down.
