Music boomed through the cave and lights flashed overhead, casting a myriad of different colors all over the stone. Sitting over on a couch - where the hell did they get a couch? - two vampires sat with a young woman between them, her neck torn and bloody from where she'd been bitten. Other vampires pranced around the room, dancing to the strange music and making out without a care in the world.
Yoru stood leaning against a wall, watching the party. He let out a sigh. He wasn’t the partying type, yet there he was.
If you're wondering how this deserted cave had become party central, you can blame Amara for that. It seemed Dirk wasn't the only vampire she had invited. A few more showed up later that night and then more after that. They just kept coming and coming until the cave was transformed into this catastrophe.
"Yo man, glad you could make it," Dirk said to a vampire that had just turned into the room. The vampire flashed him a smile and the two exchanged a fist bump.
Amara danced over to Yoru, pressing her gyrating body against him. If blood could still flow to his face, he definitely would have been blushing.
"Isn't this great?!" she yelled into his ear, causing a painful ringing in his head for a moment. "This is our clan! They really know how to have a good time!"
It felt like something, but 'great' wasn't the word he had in mind. He had never been to a party like this... especially not a vampire party. He was just your average Japanese kid who attended school and went on adventures with his friends. He had no idea what to make of these vampires making out, feeding on human cattle, and gyrating their bodies in ways he didn't even think possible.
"I... need a break."
Yoru left that area of the cave. He walked down the tunnel until he reached a dead end, where he sat down on the cool ground. He could still hear the music, but it was as quiet as he was going to get.
Amara followed closely behind. "Do you not like parties?"
"It's not that," he said. "I like birthday parties, but I don't know what to make of this."
Amara chuckled. "Well, this isn't exactly a kiddy birthday party."
He frowned. "Aren't vampires supposed to be secretive?"
"Of course," she said. "Secrecy is what allows our species to survive."
"Then what's with this party? What if some passing hiker walks by and notices there's a rave going on inside a cave?"
"He'll probably assume it's teenagers," she says, smiling. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "Come on, live a little."
He looked back to where they came. Even from there, he could hear the music. He could imagine the vampires dancing and having fun. It wasn't his idea of fun, but then again, he had never tried partying before.
"Maybe you're right," he finally said, pushing himself to my feet. "Shall we head back?"
Just then, they heard a scream. Then more screams and yelling. The music was still playing, but it was being drowned out.
Yoru focused his hearing, intent to hear what was going on. At first he was just hearing yelling, screaming, and the sound of fighting, but he soon found himself focused on one voice.
"So this is the nest." It was a man's voice. A calm, terrifying voice. "Lamia type vampire: threat level A." There was a loud, bloodcurdling scream as metal stabbed into flesh. "You're quite the dangerous specimen. Although, there's not much you can do if your heart is pierced by your own poison." A man started yelling, but was quickly silenced by the sound of more metal stabbing into flesh.
