*new cover by __Athena__ :)By the time I woke up it was around midday and the sun was beginning to go down. Immediately after waking up, the soldier who had been carrying me the whole way dropped me to the ground and then proceeded with binding my hands with an old piece of rope.
I guessed he was mad about having to carry me because as he was tying the rope he gave me an angry look and smiled when I winced as he continued to tightly tie the rope around my bruised wrists. He then tied the other end of the rope onto one of the horses so if I were to fall, I was going to be dragged.
Hours of walking passed and every question I asked, they would ignore. My wrists burned and felt as if they were on fire.
I felt so weak and felt as if I would just pass out from the exhaustion. The sun was completely down by now and I was glad that I didn't have to worry about the heat on me anymore. My feet on the other hand weren't doing too good.
I cursed every rock as I felt it puncture my heel and I held back a yelp as I felt the blisters form under my feet. At one point they had even gone numb and as crazy as it sounds, I was afraid that they were going to fall off.
"Would you like to join me?" Keldrick asked.
The soldiers on the horses that were pulling the carriage started to snicker.
I turned to the creep. He was in the carriage and he looked comfy and warm. I bet his feet didn't hurt.
I knew he was teasing me. And i knew that if I got into the carriage I would regret the decision for the rest of my life. Right then I wanted to yell at him. I wanted to curse at him and call him all of the worst names I could possibly come up with but I knew that that would get me nowhere. He would probably just kill me. That didn't seem like a bad option right now though, if I was being honest.
I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't even notice when we had stopped moving. That's when my eyes turned to the carriage. He wasn't there anymore.
I went to turn around but immediately large arms wrapped around my waist and picked me and my feet were soon dangling above the ground.
"What are you doing?" I yelled as I began to kick and squirm.
"I'm just giving you a break, darling." Kendrick's voice whispered in my ear and that's when I noticed that we were heading towards the carriage.
"No!" I began to scream. "Let me go!" I kicked and continued to scream and curse at him. I had to do whatever I could to not make it to that carriage. I wouldn't let it happen. I couldn't. "Let me go! Please!"
My heart pounded as we were in front of the carriage. He tried opening the carriage door but I kicked it, making us fall back.
Falling on my back hurt like hell. But I was glad that he had let go of me while we were falling and I took this chance and stood up. Just as I was about to run I felt his hand on my ankle. My ankle grew hot and I turned to him and tried to shake him off but it was no use, his hold was too strong.
I heard the men run towards me and I felt their big hands grab me and at that moment I knew I was screwed. My mind swirled with all of the horrible things they would do to me and my body began to burn.
I couldn't let this happen. I wouldn't let them hurt me. I wouldn't.
I thought back to Julian and it was like a fire ignited within me. I had to stay alive. If not for myself, but for Julian. He spent the rest of his life looking after me. He fed me, he clothed me, he loved me. He gave me life and I wasn't going to take that for granted. It would be like taking him for granted and that was something I would not allow myself to do. My eyes burned as I turned to look at Keldrick.
His eyes widened and he quickly let go of my ankle. He stepped back, his mouth slightly hung open as his eyes were wide with fear. The men copied his actions and I felt so powerful.
My body was burning with rage and I felt so hot that if I touched the sun, it wouldn't even feel like a bee sting.
"I-It's a monster." One of the men whispered as he fell back on his butt.
I eyed them and noticed that they weren't looking at me, they were looking behind me. My eyes brows furrowed and I slowly and cautiously turned around and froze at the sight.
It was an animal. No, not just an animal. It was a monster. It looked like a lion but it wasn't. He had the face of a lion and the body of a lion but large and black wings sat on his back and his tail was long and sharp and almost looked like a knife. There was black stuff all around him. It looked something like smoke but it wasn't exactly smoke.
My eyes grew larger as I looked into his eyes: they were purple. Just like mine.
"Kill it!" Kendrick ordered.
My head hurt at the thought of them killing the creature and I was so confused why.
Before I could I say or do anything, the creature's wings opened up and he flew right over me.
The men started yelling and screaming and i turned around and regretted it instantly. I watched as the beautiful but frightening creature tore apart the men.
My hands began to shake and as I looked down at them I noticed the same black stuff that was coming out of the lion was swirling around my hands and feet. Was I doing this?
I turned towards the dying men and my breathing began to pick up. "Stop!" I yelled, tears forming in my eyes.
The lion froze, his large set of teeth inches away from ripping Keldrick's throat out.
A lump grew in my throat and i began to feel dizzy as the lion turned to me, almost expectantly.
'Yes, master.'
I jumped at the voice. Did the creature just talk? I was still confused that it was even listening to me.
This was all too much. So many questions and thoughts swirled through my head and I did the only thing I knew how to do.
I turned around and ran into the forest.
