Chapter 3- Forgiveness

I flew straight into Joshua’s main chambers with my huge dragon heart thudding against my ribcage like it was going to tear out from my chest, my gigantic wings and sharp talons crashing away the foundations of the building.

Katherine, who was cleaning her blade with a Kleenex like a normal young woman would clean her dishes, was the first to notice me. She drew her weapon, her whip curling around my ankle.

I easily snapped it into two, an unknown power overflowing from my body. Katherine backed away with uncertainty in her eyes, her whip buzzing with flowing electrifying magic power.

 “Well, well, well, Charles.”

Joshua drawled, looking up at me with a lazy grin. I took a deep breath.

When I was in the room, with dinner served to Nicole, I sat down on the table and began to write.

  Nicole.

I know you will hate me forever, and I do not intend to try and beg for your forgiveness, for I have done something unforgiveable. I have wronged you and our daughter. I’m sorry.

I’m going to travel to Joshua’s main chambers, and probably do something the most suicidal in the world.

Don’t come for me, and don’t wait for me. I have failed in my duty of being a good father and a husband, but I shall not fail in being a loyal Blue Band member.

If I fail, please forgive me. I shall try to do my best part, but I know that it will not be enough.

But sitting down and biting my fingernails isn’t an option for me. I love you, and please send my love to everyone. That’s my last request.

With deep love, Charles Joe Clarence

                        Jackie (Charles) J.C.

“Grandfather,” I whispered, bowing, turning to my original human form.

“I have told you before the reason of world destruction. It is because the earth is…terrible. People are taking things for people’s own sakes,” Joshua said, now no longer with his drawling voice, but with a firm voice, his eyes burning in fire, and for a moment I believed him- for a split second did I really waver. “People are cutting down trees, destroying lands and creating factories for their own sake, destroying the earth.”

He gripped my face, and examined me. “You look just like your father.”

Tears poured down my face. “Please do not hurt him. I came here in peace. If you have me, if you have all the power, will you promise to keep every single soul on the earth safe? You told me that whenever I assert my loyalty with my own tongue, not forced by you, your power will go up immensely.”

He laughed, and snapped his fingers, blue sparks erupting. “Of course. I will not hurt any. Now, kneel, and have some respect for your grandfather.”

My legs wobbled, and gave way. Katherine giggled. “Oh, look at our hero, kneeling before his grandfather.”

“Grandfather,” I breathed. “Please. Do not hurt my father, my family, and the world.”
