'How much is he?'

Were the first words the boy heard
Jostled out of the trance,
That he had so happily been in,

But taken into another,

When his newfound God took it upon himself,
To save him.

He would wander over,
As graceful as the feather of a raven in the wind.
The boys master would ask God what he thought he was doing
And God would repeat,
Tipping the boy's head up, one long finger under his chin.

'I want him.'

'And I want him now.'
