There was always something strange about me. Something different. From when I was a little girl, I knew I wasn't normal. I'm not like other people. I'm not even sure if I'm considered to be human.

[A/N POV]

Loud crying sound was echoing in the room with the plain white walls.

"Congratulations,miss Lee."

The woman smiled as she looked at her daughter for the first time. Her eyes got watery and soon she left her last breath. Doctors started running through the halls trying to save the woman. It was too late. A tall man with a white robe walked outside the room and approached the woman in the waiting room.

"You must be Miss Lee's sister. Eunseo Lee. "

"Yes. Is everything alright? How is my sister? Is the baby healthy?"

"The baby is fine. She doesn't seem to have any problems. But I'm afraid I have some bad news for you Miss Lee."

"What is it? What happened?"

"Miss Lee...didn't make it."

The woman collapsed on the ground and started crying. After a while she finally came back to her senses. She decided to take care of the baby. The father had left long time ago and her parents were dead. Her sister really loved the baby so she was dedicated to take good care of her. Little did she know that it wasn't just an ordinary baby.

"Come on Haegi you don't wanna be late for school."

The little girl ran downstairs. A smile was formed on her lips.

"Okay mommy, I'm coming."

She wore her jacket and grabbed her schoolbag. They both got in the car. After a few minutes they arrived at the school building. Haegi got out of the car and ran to the school yard waving at her "mother". She didn't know anything about her real mother's death. Miss Lee wasn't planning on telling her until she was an adult.

[Haegi's POV]

" Good morning Hyerin."

"Haegi! Good morning."

Hyerin is my best friend. And my only friend. The other kids don't seem to like me. They always call me fat, ugly and make fun of me, something that makes me really sad so I just stay away from them. Or at least I try to. It used to be worse before Hyerin transfered to our school. At least I don't feel alone anymore. The school day passed and mom came to pick me up.

"How was school sweety?"

"It was fun. Even though Hyerin fell down and hurt her knee. She's fine now."

The truth is something bad happened today. But I don't wanna make mom worried so I don't plan on telling her. My classmate Jaewon told me I had a weird name. That it was very small and simple and has nothing unique. The truth is I found my name unimpressive. It's just too simple.

"Mom?"

"What is it? "

"Why did you name me Haegi"

"Hae means a girl who's like the ocean. Gi means the one who's brave. And I know you're very brave. Like your mother. "

"Like you?"

"Y-yes.. Like me."

I noticed mom's behavior change. She looked kinda sad. Maybe it's my fault. I decided not to talk. I looked outside the window and fell asleep.

[Eunseo's POV]

I looked at the back sit through the mirror. Haegi was peacefully sleeping. I can't believe I almost mentioned her mother. She can't know yet. Right?.. She's still young. I feel like I should tell her. I just can't yet. I got out of the car. I carried Haegi to her room and placed her on her bed. I covered her with a blanket and sat next to her stroking her hair. She reminded me of my sister. I then realized a tear had rolled down my cheek. I got out of her room and slowly closed the door.

[Haegi's POV]

I was walking at school like every day. It's my third year of Junior High School. I saw a girl approaching me while waving her hands in the air.

"Haegi! Good morning!"

"Good morning Yeji."

"You won't believe what I saw in my dream!"

Yeji is one of my best friends. But sometimes she just talks a lot. Like when she tells me about her dreams. I sighed and pretended to listen while I was thinking of my lovely bed.

"And then he-"

"Hyerin!?"

I cut her off as I saw someone familiar outside the school building. I was sure it was Hyerin. My best friend from primary school. I ran to her and she gave me a confused look.

"Hyerin! Long time no see!"

"Um.. Hi.. Do I... Know you?"

"Yes silly! It's me! Haegi! Your best friend from primary school!"

"Haegi? I don't remember having any friend named like this. But you know my name... "

"What? What do you mean? Don't you remember me? We were best friends! We were together every day for like... 6 years! I still remember the day we met. When you transfered to our school."

"Um.. I remember when I transfered school. It was a long time ago. But I don't remember meeting you. Sorry."

"What about the last day of school at the sixth grade? Don't you remember me? We were both crying and we made a promise to keep in contact."

"N-no..I remember everyone crying. I was crying too and then we all hugged each other and said goodbye to out teachers. But I still don't remember you or any girl named Haegi."

I was very confused. How could she forget someone she's known for almost 6 years? She fake smiled and I smiled back and left. Something was wrong. I'm sure it's the same Hyerin as in the past. She hasn't changed. Only got taller and her hair got longer. How could she forget me so easily? It's like her memories of me faded away.
