So there I was, away from my group. Or squad as I call them, just spraying down the walkers. "Manny, I need the clip!" I tossed my brother, Josh, the clip. "Where is everyone else?" I asked. "In the Hummer." In the near distance I heard The Destroyer. Oh, that's right, I forgot to introduce myself.

My name is Manny. I am a 16 year old just HOPING to find more survivors. This zombie apocalypse, or Zombocalypse as I like to call it, started not too long ago, actually. And it started like this --"What's wrong with the subject?" "He's starting to rot, doctor."-- Patient Zero, as I call it, had a very mysterious disease. Eventually, it spread out from the U.S to China, then to Africa, and then, in what seemed like a few hours, the rest of the world. And that ladies and gents, is where this whole hell hole started.

"What's the answer to number 10?" I slouched down in my chair. "Manny, what is the answer?" The whole class was staring at me. Even HER, the girl I have always had a crush on since high school started. And for a long time, I thought she liked me too. " I uh, I don't know." Right there, I was saved by the bell ringing. I had gotten up and grabbed my stuff and was about the exit the classroom when my teacher called me back. "Is everything alright, Manny?" I stood there, looking out the window for about a minute. I looked back at my teacher and I finally responded, "No. My best friend got sick and is currently in the hospital." I looked out of the window once more.

"You know, normally you are a pretty good student. I really hope your friend-" And that's when I heard it. I immediately turned around and bolted out of the door. Why? Because what I heard was a scream. And that scream was a scream I knew like the back of my hand. That scream, belonged to HER. And her name is Jamie Brown. She is the most gorgeous, most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my entire life. I saw Jamie running, and behind her looked something like the infamous Patient Zero. Jamie went behind me and my brother came out of the bathroom almost instantly.

"Where is it?" Josh asked. I pointed at the thing slowly making its way towards us. Josh looked at Jamie, then back to me, then went into his backpack. I did the same. He pulled out a camera and I pulled out some rope. Jamie was standing standing there, just staring at us. "Uhm, I was supposed to have the rope." "Josh, shut the hell up. You always get the rope." We started to argue a little, and then I finally ended the argument and kept the rope. I sprinted towards the creature and baseball slid underneath it and tied its legs together. The creature then came toppling down. I sat the creature down and said "Josh, hurry up and take the picture. I have a game tonight."Josh quickly snapped the picture. As we were dragging the creature Jamie asked, "What do you guys do with them?" Josh and I looked at each other then back at her and said "The Pit."

It took a few minutes for us to get to The Pit, but when we did Jamie asked "What is that smell?" "That, my dear, is the stench of death." Josh replied. The smell was a terrible stench that reminded me of a kid in my third grade class named Billy. "Alright Josh, stand him up." Josh did so, and meanwhile Jamie was still standing there looking at us like we were some crazy people. I walked over to the creature and put my pistol to its head and fired. It fell backwards into the pit. As soon as I had heard the loud thud of the creature landing on all of the others, I looked over to Josh and asked "How many is that now? 33?" Josh replied, "43." I turned around to see Jamie laying on the floor. I ran to her as fast as I possibly could. When I got to her, what I saw made my heart shatter into a million pieces. What I saw, was a small puddle of blood. I lifted up her pant leg to reveal a bite mark.

Through my tears that had started, I said "Josh, make it 44." I picked Jamie up and I started to walk towards the pit. Josh gave me a stare and I could tell he was about to tear up as well. I sat down and put Jamie's head on my legs. For a minute, she looked up at me with her beautiful brown eyes. She could tell I had been tearing up. She leaned up towards me and kissed me. She said faintly, "Manny, I am sorry I waited so long to tell you this but...I love you." That broke me, and I started to bawl my eyes out. Then Jamie slowly collapsed. The next time she looked up at me, she wasn't looking up at me with her brown eyes. Instead, they were replaced with black.

I looked down at her once more, and I slowly started to take my pistol back out. I closed my eyes and put my gun up to the middle of her forehead. BANG. I watched as the girl I loved fell into the deep, dark abyss that was The Pit. I had sat there for what had felt like hours. I would've sat for more if Josh hadn't returned. "Come on, your game starts in a couple hours." Josh said to me. I slowly stood up and retrieved something from my pocket. It was a necklace. In it, was a picture of Jamie and I when I had asked her to homecoming. I looked at it, kissed it, then I dropped it into the pit. And for the last time, I stared into the abyss and I spotted Jamie. I smiled very faintly and whispered, "I love you too."
