ITS BEEN about a week since Jasper and Ophelia had kissed for the first time, and they have formed a relationship. Neither have put a name on what they have, and it was better for both of them that way, well, until they get to know each other a little more.
So, here they were, laying on the roof of the Swan household, cuddling, and staring up at the night sky. Laying next to them was a basket full of food, obviously for Ophelia and not Jasper seeing as it's physically hard for him to eat human food. And that is why she had went out of her way and drained a deer for him, so there was two blood bags full of deer blood just for him.
She had voiced her opinion about animal blood to both Jasper and the other Cullen's. They were fine with her drinking people as long as it wasn't anywhere near Forks, and the person lived. She agreed, of course, and she does what she always has; the snatch, eat, erase move. It was her favorite thing to do.
Over the course of the week of getting to know each other, Jasper went ahead and told her about the scars that litter his arms. She was schooled at first and then murderous. He had smiled sweetly at her concern and protectiveness, and she had slapped him so hard that his head cracked before healing. It was quite hilarious to both Bella and Ophelia.
And since Jasper had told her something personal about him, she had told him about Kol and how he was her favorite sibling, the only one who understood her, the one who would do anything for her and more. And then she told him about how he died, about how a pathetic excuse of a vampire and hunter killed him.
It even angered her even more after she had one of her minions spy on Elena, only to find out that she was still a vampire, and had her humanity back. It took everything in her to not go back to Mystic Falls and tear the bitch apart.
And the worst thing, was that Elena and Jeremy had killed Kol to get a stupid cure for vampirism, and she didn't even use it.
After finding out about that one single fact, Ophelia had a mental breakdown and destroyed a part of the forest. Jasper had found her and comforted her, and that moment only drew them closer together.
"You know, I used to not like violence," Ophelia stated out of the blue, and Jasper looked down at her with twinkling golden eyes. "I used to be all about protecting the world and everything on it. I used to wear flowers in my hair and dance with my siblings. I used to sing and braid my sisters hair, sometimes my brothers too, seeing as they had long hair at one point. I used to love everyone and everything. I couldn't even fathom how anyone could hate someone."
She shook her head as she continued, "And then... my mother and father ruined everything. They ruined the little girl who loved until there was no more love to give. They replaced that little girl with the monster who killed for joy, who hated practically everyone." She sighed and took in a deep breath.
"Like you said before, if that didn't happen, if they didn't do what they did, you wouldn't be here right now."
"I know," she told him before mumbling, "But, it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt anymore. My father hunted his own children down because he was evil and ashamed of what he had done. My mother did the same thing and tried to say that it was for love. No, it was because they're cowards. They didn't have to go through what we did. We could barely stay in one place for more than a week. We couldn't get close to anyone in fear of them being killed, we couldn't even love each other. We weren't siblings anymore, we were comrades, just trying to survive a never ending war."
She looked up at the stars twinkling in the dark sky. "Even now... I still feel like I'm waiting for something to go wrong, for something to happen. Because you know what? Mikaelsons can never be happy for more than a minute without someone coming for them, someone they love dying. It's terrible. My life is fucking terrible."
"Darling..." Jasper trailed over before kissing her forehead. "You have an amazing sister who loves you with everything in her. You have a father who will do anything to keep that smile on your face. You have the Cullens and I to be your next family, to protect you, to love you, to be there for you like no one has before. Trust me, your life is not terrible. It's just beginning."
Ophelia turned her head to stare at him with a soft smile. "You're amazing, love." She leaned forward and placed her lips against his.
