Chapter 3

Missing

POV- Alex

I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I fixed my hair and walked to the little candy machine by the door. I pulled out 50 cents from my pocket and bought sour candy drops. I opened the bottle of candy drops and tried to squeeze some out, but it was all dried out. I threw it away and left the bathroom. I walked past the soda machine and the men's bathroom. I walked for a minute until I got to the food court. Once I got there I saw a little girl holding a lollipop and crying. Her mom was beside her and was telling her it's ok. I saw Maddie and walked to our table. I said hey, and she said hey back. After a second she said let's grab food. We walked to Subway and got two Subway Clubs. Maddie got hers with pickles,tomato,ranch, amd lettuce. I got mine with ranch and lettuce. We watched the worker put the Subs together. He was kinda cute. I looked at his name-tag and it said Jayvlyn. I never heard that name before. He looked up from the sandwiches and stared at Maddie very weirdly. She shook it off and went to the soda fountain machine. I grabbed our sandwiches and put them at our table. Maddie grabbed us both Coke. She came back to the table woth the sodas and some Subway napkins. We started to eat when we noticed Jayvlyn looking at us. Jayvlyn was hot, he was our type. By our I mean Maddie and I. Maddie then looked at me kinda crazy. The look when you look at your enemy when they say something funny. Not amused. Jayvlyn came over and said something to Maddie. She automatically smiled until Jayvlyn said another thing then she looked at me and scowled. Jayvlyn scurried off and Maddie said "I need to talk to you." in a really rude tone. Maddie got up and I followed her. I found myself in the bathroom by the sink. Maddie came up to my face and said "HE IS MINE." She practically yelled it. Luckily no one was in the bathroom. She then backed up until I got in her face and yelled "I DONT GIVE A DAMN! GET YOUR OWN RIDE HOME BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH YOU!" I backed up and saw tears running down Maddie's face. She ran out of the bathroom. I tried to followed her until I realized I left my phone in the bathroom. I ran to get it. I grabbed my phone and tried calling Maddie. Of course she didn't answer. I sent her a text saying "Sorry" She sent back ".........." I was going to send another text when I thought I should get home. I walked out of the mall and to the parking lot and started looking for our car. I found the car and started walking to it. When I got to the car right by the driver's side door I saw a phone. I picked it up and immediately knew it was Maddie's. Maddie had two phones. One where she can receive calls only and call the cops and the other is an iPhone which she used to text her friends. When I looked back up I saw a car racing out of the parking lot. I didn't think anything of it. I got in my car and was thinking that she got in a bus and just dropped her phone on accident. The bus stop is right by here. It's only 30 feet away. I started my car and started driving. I drove past the bus stop and got a really sick feeling in my stomach. I turned on Z1077 on the radio and the song that was on was "Stay With Me" by Sam Smith. I came to a halt when a car crashed into a pole. I swerved out of the way and ran into a tree. Then it went black.

6 HOURS LATER
I woke up in a hospital. My parents were there. They looked at me and said "The crash was minor. If you hadn't swerved out of the way a lot of people could be dead." Someone knocked on the door and my mom let them in. It was Maddie's parents. My parents and her's were whispering. My mom had a horrified look in her face then nodded and left the room. Maddie's mom came up to me with tears and said "Where's Maddie?" I looked at her confused and she could tell I was. I then explained "We got in a fight and I found her phone and I thought she got on the bus to go home." Maddie's mom said that she hadn't seen Maddie since this morning. I looked at them with my eyes  starting to fill up with tears. I was so confused. Maddie would never leave. We never stay mad at eachother. Why would she run away? My eyes started swelling largely and then the thought came into my head. Javylyn.
