Silka woke up in her straw bed, rubbing sleep from her eyes. She sat up and let out a huge yawn. The girl sat in silence for a moment then remembered, 'Today is the day!' She hopped out of bed and ran down the chestnut stairs to the kitchen, where her father and mother were waiting for her with a muffin. "Goodmorning, Silk," he father, Rufus handed her the muffin while her mother, Amelia, gave her a bear hug. Silka giggled. She loved her parents. They were bakers for the town of Trunswick in Eura. "You better get ready. Today is a big day!" her mother said. Silka giggled again, " I know Mom. Where's my dress?" Amelia nodded towards a beautiful, pale blue dress in the hall way. Silka smiled and grabbed it by the hanger. She ran back upstairs to her room, where her small dog, Whicker, lay on his mat. The girl quickly slid her dress over her head and pulled on a pair of tan boots. "Ready!" she yelled down the stairs. She ran her fingers through her hair and skipped back down again.

Silka opened the door to find her friend, Liza, waiting for her a simple purple dress. She smiled and walked to the Nectar Ceremony. Silka stood in line, her fingers shaking nervously. First came a tall black-haired boy. Newt. Next came a shorter blond boy. Nothing. Liza was next. She drank the Nectar, and a proud doe galloped to her. Silka smiled. Surely if Liza got a spirit animal, she would too. Right?

Silka walked onto the stage. She treaded to the bald man, a Greencloak named Lucas. She took the nectar shakily in her hands. Silka tipped it back, letting it flow into her mouth. It tasted wonderful, like butter-and-cinnamon-covered bread. She waited for two seconds. Then five. Ten came slowly. A small, graceful otter bounded onto the stage next to her. Everyone gasped, including Lucas. "It's-it's Camille!"someone shouted. Silka looked down. The otter, Camille, seemingly smiled back at her. Lucas walked forward." You have summoned the Legendary Creature Camille!" Everyone cheered. Silka grinned. She bent down and let Camille climb onto her shoulder.

Silka walked off the stage with the otter on her shoulder. She patted Camille's head and sighed happily.
