The cold, soft, blanket of white beneath their feet made crunch noises as the three men scurried through the night; their attempt to avoid the bright lights that illuminated their town was practically futile. They decided it was best to pick up the pace, and hope for the best. They ran straight into the woods, going through the long, pine trees that were covered in white.

Their steps faltered, they slowed down as they grew closer to the tallest pine tree with a peculiar circle in the middle of its bark. Taehyung was dressed warmly, his scarf wrapped tightly around his neck while he buried his nose against its warmth. His heart was pounding at the sight of the tree, and he took a breath before he glanced at his friends.

Jimin smiled brightly at him, his cheeks flushed as he handed him a beautifully wrapped gift, "It's not too late to back out." He whispered gently, his kind voice made Taehyung feel a bit more at ease—more grounded. This hadn't felt real until he held onto the gift and ran his fingers through the sparkly, blue ribbon.

"It's definitely too late." Namjoon nudged him gently, his smile widening as he glanced at the tree and then back at Taehyung. "Hey, it'll be okay so long as you try and blend in. Don't tell them who you are, no matter what."

Taehyung hummed, his heart pounding against his ribcage. He could feel his ears warming up from the worry that settled in the pit of his stomach. He had never left before. It was completely unheard of to leave the town you were born into, simply because very few knew about the portals that led to different holidays. Even if someone knew of the portals, why would anyone wish to leave?

He bit his lower lip before nodding gently, "I know what I'm getting myself into." He whispered as he inched closer to the door. "Still..." his voice trailed off as he placed his palm on the tree but he smiled as he looked at his friends, "I'll be back before you know it." He flashed a bright grin though his nerves spiked as he turned and gently pulled the door open and walked inside.

It was a bit too bright at first, he squinted as he tried to force his eyes to adjust. He released a gentle gasp when he looked around and was surrounded by seven trees with different symbols in each door. He looked at the tree with the scariest symbol, and to be honest, he wasn't quite sure what the orange circle with an evil grin was. His feet wobbled as he inched closer to the door, and he couldn't deny the excitement he felt underneath the worry. He smiled to himself as he pulled the door open and stepped inside.

If Taehyung were honest with himself, he would admit that he hated everything he was unfortunately witnessing because of all the nights of the year, he managed to sneak into Halloweentown the day of Halloween. Perhaps deep down he knew this was the holiday, even if he told himself he was a day off, but he'd never admit that to himself. This place was the opposite of his own home; it lacked color, happiness, and smelled strange. There was a low, creepy tune that played over the loud speakers that stood in every corner of the town. Taehyung looked around and immediately heard shrieking; there were blood-curdling screams that chorused through his surroundings as he slowly made his way through the streets. Then he heard a choir that sang such strange lyrics about celebrating the malicious night; it had his body shivering from the goosebumps that formed around his body.

Taehyung palmed his mouth when he saw streams of blood—well, everywhere. He froze in place when he heard the singing growing closer, and then he saw the small crowd of monsters he couldn't describe due to his discomfort. He instantly ran off when the people inched closer to him, but they were preoccupied with screaming at citizens that filled the streets. Taehyung ran into the forest, his heated hands clutching onto the present as he gently sat beside a tree and hoped he would be hidden from the town, and its inhabitants. He wasn't sure where he was but as he looked around, he saw large stones that stood from the ground with words engraved in the front. He crawled a little closer, but quickly drew back, startled, when a cawing, black bird landed on top of the stone. Taehyung frowned a bit as he leaned against the tree once more.
