It started in Grade school. That was the day.. The first day I ever met him.
"Mommy? I don't want to go to school today." I cried as I clunched her arm towards me. The pain in her eyes flashed for a moment. Her green eyes held a firm gaze. Not so long ago we lost Daddy. I was told he went to Fight bad guys somewhere far away. I didn't thing the bad guys would hurt him.
"Autumn it's going to be okay. You're 7! You're a big girl. You'll make plenty of new friends at this school." The strain in her voice was unnerving.
Mom decided to take me out of Creek Elementary after dad left. She thought it was "unbarring" to stay and have the other moms pity(
her. I didn't like the idea. I lost all my friends. I nodded to my mom and squeezed her hand as we entered Harrington Elementary. It was a Red Brick building with trees bordering it. The playground however was mesmerizing."Mom! Mommy! Can we go there first?" I chirped with excitement forgetting about what awaits me inside.
Laughing my mom tugs me to the imitating wooden doors. With the words Entrance engraved. My smile immediately drops.
"No, honey they are expecting us. You'll come out for recess ,so just be patient."The minute my mother left I stood there shaking. A counselor named Mrs.Penn rubbed my back. As if that comforted me! She lead me down the long spacious hallway. To a colored door. Painted hand prints surrounding it.
"Well here we are! Ms.Louis's class. Oh you are going to be so delighted! The students in her class are quite entertaining."
Her smile only made me more scared. When we entered the bright room. There were rows of children seated on a rainbow carpet. The teacher, Ms.Louis held a I spy book. I guess it was story time."Ms.Louis,Students, meet Autumn Darren. She's going to be joining you guys for the rest of the year. Treat her well."
As soon as she said that. Pairs and Pairs of eyes were on me. Ms.Louis a tall, blonde haired women waddled towards me. I looked at the giant ball lump in her belly.. What was that?
"Oh hello dear! I'm Ms.Louis, please follow me here I'll put your things up for you. Also, you see that boy over there with the blue shirt. Oliver raise your hand!" My eyes wondered to the boy with brown shaggy hair giggling with his friends. He groaned and raised his hand. "Oliver there will be your seating buddy. Now go take a seat."Smiling eagerly I sat on the small wooden desk. I'm so glad I found a buddy!
"Hi, I'm Autumn."
Oliver immediately cringed and laughed.
"Sorry, I don't want to be your friend. You're not pretty enough." His friends laughed at his remark and turned his attention back to them. Leaving me stunned in silence. Tears of frustration dared to come out. Many students overheard his remark and had their eyes trained on me. Watching my reaction. This school is horrible already. The rest of Grade school and Middle school we avoided each other. He was popular and had the looks. I simply wasn't. He forgot my existence throughout the years. Which everyone else did. Eventually I did make friends. Alyson and Tris. I just never thought I'd have to deal with him again. Nor did I ever think we'd end up in the same bed.
