"Absolutely not."
"But why?" I said, crossing my arms and frowning at Seb.
"You're not ready," he said simply, mixing a bowl of pancake batter. "It's too dangerous."
"My leg has healed completely," I said angrily. It's been a week since the incident in his room and we haven't talked about it once. Now, we were arguing about me wanting to leave and train outside instead of in the musty warehouse.
"I'm not talking about your leg," he said, pouring the pancake batter into the fry pan. "You can't control your power just yet. It's not safe."
"Not safe my ass," I mumbled and turned on my heel, walking to my room. I slammed the door and ran my hands through my hair in frustration.
I heard the sizzle of batter hitting a fry pan. With my new heightened hearing, the smallest sound made it feel like it was right next to me. It had taken a few weeks of wearing earplugs constantly to drown out the background noise.
"Screw this," I mumbled and grabbed my battered high tops, slipping them on.
I opened the window and fresh air greeted me. I poked my head over and looked down. It was a long drop, but there were rods and pipes attached to the building I could use for support. I climbed onto the windowsill and let my feet dangle. A metal railing was directly under me and I readied myself to drop.
I scooted closer to the edge and jumped.
