Prologue

"Sir, won't you celebrate the victory with the other soldiers?" asked Mogor Shane. His superior, Savar K'heere, didn't answer. Shane approached the Savar cautiously. He looked over Savar K'heere's shoulder and saw that he was looking at a starmap of their galaxy. "Sir," Mogor Shane said, "Are you looking for our next target already? Planet 16 was destroyed only a few days ago."

Savar K'heere didn't move. "And the sooner we pick who's next, the better."

Mogor Shane stared at the map. "And who will be next? Earth?"

"Perhaps." the Savar said. "We have had our eye on them for a while..."

"But...?" Mogor Shane questioned.

"This one is closer." Savar K'heere pointed to a large world not far from their position.

"But Sir, that one is huge. None of our other 16 victim planets have fought back, but they..."

"They what?" Savar K'heere asked.

"They can be rebellious. Like humans, but not as annoying."

The Savar scoffed. "Rebellions can be crushed."

Mogor Shane headed for the door. "So can attackers."

As the Mogor left, the Savar K'heere opened the file on their next target. The planet was large and consisted of hundreds of species...three of which were supposedly "intelligent": the Zandians, the Valshara, and the Dilepti. Somewhere inside Savar K'here knew that fighting not one but three intelligent species would be more difficult than previously thought... should they join forces.

The Savar closed the file. No matter. Three intelligentsia or not, he would crush his world like all the others.

Like all the others...
