My Reason To Live

Chapter 4

(Y/N's POV)

We finally arrived at the Detectives Agency in one piece. Dazai set me down and we both went into the building. As we opened the door I was greeted with a, "WELCOME TO THE DETECTIVES AGENCY!!" Everyone who was apart of the Agency was there. Well at least I think so. A warm smile stretched across my face and tears formed in my eyes.

I don't even know what I did.

I wiped my tears. "W-What did I do to deserve this?" I asked. Dazai chuckled. "Well this wasn't a planned test for you, but what you did when handling Akutagawa was amazing! So I called the boss to let him know how you did. He ended up giving you the opportunity to join the Detectives Agency. Of course we can't force you but it is highly recommended! So what do you say Y/N-chan?"

I looked down and back up. "I say yes! Yes I will join the Detectives Agency!" This was the happiest day of my life. I was finally accepted somewhere. Cheers was heard throughout the room we all were in.

Everyone started eating food and having fun. I was chatting with some of the other members to get to know them a little better.

"Hey Dazai~ Is that an injury you got there~?" One of the members, Dr. Yosano pointed out. Dazai has fear in his eyes. "N-no! Not at all, I'm fine i-it's just for aesthetic!" Dazai obviously lied.

"Really? Aesthetic?" She questioned. Dazai nodded rapidly, sweating. "You really think I'm gonna believe that!?" She started chasing him down. Dazai screamed in terror. I was laughing my ass off. I was also wondering why he was so scared of her.

The celebration was over and we all went to our rooms. I didn't have a room yet so Dazai allowed me to stay at his place for now. Me and Dazai stayed up late talking the night away. We eventually went to bed cause we got so tired that we kinda accidentally fell asleep.

It was the next morning. I fluttered my eyes open and realized what position I was in. Dazai was softly snoring on top of me. I blushed madly. I didn't wanna move cause I didn't wanna wake him. He did look so peaceful. I reached out to touch Dazai's hair and at that moment he woke up and saw my hand reaching out barely touching him. I quickly took my hand away and blushed.

"Oh! Sorry Y/N, I hope this wasn't too uncomfortable for you!" Dazai got off of me. "No no it's alright, don't worry," I reassured him.

After a while we heard a few knocks on Dazai's door. "Come in!" Dazai shouted and in cane Dr. Yosano. "Dazai, Y/N, we are getting ready for a meeting soon so you better get ready and be there," she told us.

Dazai and I both nodded.

We both got dressed and Dazai told me to follow him to the meeting room since of course I don't know where it was.

We sat down in our seats and Kunikida started talking.

"Okay as we all know the Mafia is still trying their hardest to get their hands on Y/N so we got to protect her for their next move which I am now aware about. From Ranpo's deduction skills we were able to find out that they hid bombs around the building to do a surprise attack on us and take Y/N. We have to keep her in a safe destination so they don't get any where near her, alright?" We all nodded.

We got up from our seats and immediately took action. Dazai was in charge of taking me to a safe destination and keeping me safe. Dr. Yosano, Atsushi, Naomi, Kyouka and Ranpo came with us only leaving Tanizaki, Kunikida, Fukuzawa, and Kenji to do the action.

Dazai, me, and the others were rushed into a car to get to the destination but we were too late. The building exploded. My eyes widened in terror. I heard Dazai curse under his breath. "Quick we gotta g-!" Dazai was cut off by a voice. A familiar voice. No it was not Akutagawa but someone else's I have heard before. "I don't think you're going anywhere."

I turned my head in the direction of that voice and I groaned as I saw who it was...Chuuya. "Long time no see, Chuuya," I said. Chuuya grinned.

Dazai looked at me than at Chuuya, than back at me pouting a finger at you two. "W-wait you know each other?" Dazai asked. "Yeah, unfortunately," I sighed. "We have known each other since we were born. We were good friends, until Chuuya did what he did."

"Anyway, if you think I'm going anywhere with you, you must be dreaming," I told him. Chuuya "Tched" and started walking towards me. Dazai hopped in front of me so Chuuya couldn't get to me.

"Move out of the way, Dumbass," Chuuya growled. Dazai shook his head. Chuuya tried to kick Dazai out of the way but Dazai dodged it. Dazai then turned to Chuuya and punched him right on the side of his cheek, forcing him to the ground.

Chuuya wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and got back up. Chuuya got into a fighting stance.

"Oh it's on."
