"I'm gonna have to cancel,I'm sorry" I said to the man on the other side,I'm bored already,he's so boring and predictable, and so like my mother! And God knows I've had enough of my mother's perfection.

"Sorry I didn't get that"I didn't even know that he was still on the phone.

" I said your mum invited me to dinner,so if you can't make it to lunch then we will see at your place later" Henry walker said over the speaker.

I groan inwardly, why is mum doing this?!,all this matchmaking between me and the mayor's son isn't going to work,I don't even like him,the other night we kissed after being forced to be his date to the yearly town gala,it was horrible, he must have a kissing manual too, I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah,sure, sure.I will see you by
eight!" I said with fake enthusiasm.

I ended the call after he asked about my day,work and the usual stuff, same old same old. As I was about picking up the receiver to call Melanie, my PA,she walked in with a box of donuts and smoothies.

"Aren't you a darling?... Thank you so much Mel"

"Just doing my job,Miss" she smiled her ever bright smile,which I love so much."who do you think the company is sending to start that new branch" she asked me

"I don't know, it's not as if I'm on the board,I'm just a marketer, a young one at that"

Melanie waved her hand dismissively "oh please,Titi!" She said my name with her usual stress of the vowel."you know you've climbed the ladder of this company faster than anyone, d next promotion will make you head of marketing and member of the board! "

So much enthusiasm from this woman, I smiled."amen to that! So what else is on my schedule today,or is chitchatting among?"

"A girl needs to play once in a while right?" She didn't wait for an answer she continued " the lunch date with the mayor's son is cancelled, no meetings today ma'am, you have a meeting with the advertising firm tomorrow, don't look at me like that the boss said you should do it,he said you know how to handle them better... Hmmmm...that's all for now,I will check your email and yes! You said you wanted to call your father "

Mel with the computer brain." OK,thank you,that will be all for now"

I watched Melanie Brown as she left my office,she has been my assistant for 2 years,she's the reason why I have fun sometimes and that vacation a year ago with her family,I can't forget it,she's forty,two kids and a husband who worships the land she walks on,Mel has this amazing blue eyes that she didn't pass to any of her kids,jet black bob and a fine tan. How she managed that I don't know,what with always been indoor and all.

My mind kept wandering, what the hell does Apple needs an advertisement for anyway? We are like the best company in the world,everybody knows us! But then with the board,you never know. I just pray that I'm among the people they send to establish the new branch,I need to get away from my mother and her matchmaking.

I picked up the phone to call my Dad,it has always been calls since I cloaked eighteen, it was awkward at first,I mean,he hasn't heard from me since the divorce,he sends gifts on my birthdays and that always made me feel closer to him and that he loves me. We Skype on occasions like our birthday and graduation. We don't talk about Mum, just me and him,I have step siblings, we don't talk about them too,I don't know why,my dad just likes his time with me,I think that's all.

"Titilayomi" my dad's voice boomed over the speaker,I miss him everyday, he's the only one that calls me my full name,that reminds me that my name is not just Titi,most people think its TT,like a nickname or something, but my dad gives a new meaning to it.

"Daddy!" My voice always sounds so childish, I don't need to act all grown up around this man,he wants me to be his baby forever, unlike mum,always reminding me how a lady should behave,as if I've not heard that all my life.

We talked for awhile,I laughed half the time,dad is a very funny man,I wonder why mum let him go. And he's so supportive, he supported me when I made the decision to study management and accounting instead of medicine like mum wanted. It was a very hard time for me.

"Dad,I wish you can come to the states, I want to see you!" I pleaded,I've been asking him this for a long time

"The terms of the divorce won't let me, I don't want your mother's trouble" same old answer.

This usually dampen my mood,I just said my goodbyes and ended the call.
Time to leave,might as well get that dinner over with, I don't want my mother complaining about how much I love coming late to dinner.
I cleared my table, didn't even bother to check my make-up,I left the building, praying that Mel won't come up with anything to delay me.
