Kendall's POV
"Kendall!"
"How exactly does the whole thing work?"
"Well, there was a small, little compact ball-"
"That held everything, or the matter that made everything we have today?"
"Yes. This ball of mass and energy exploded, between 15 and 30 billion years ago. There was a flash of light, and in under three minutes, everything that became anything was there."
"So, nothing came from... nothing?"
"Not exactly-"
"Tell me, Mr. Wright, are you good at simple math?"
"Yes..."
"Okay. What is zero plus zero?"
"Are you serious? It's zero!"
"Okay, then how does the Big Bang theory work? Energy is essentially nothing. Then, one day, BOOM, the universe. Does that really make any sense?"
"Kendall..."
"It's circular reasoning. The universe wanted to be there, so it made itself out of nothing. It created itself because it wanted to be there."
"Get out of my classroom."
"Fine." I pack up my things and walk out of the class, proud of myself.
I'm Kendall Hunter, a junior in college. I'm 22, almost 23. I'm majoring in biology and to do that, I have to learn evolution, which doesn't make the least bit of sense.
I hate YouTube and anything to do with it. Why do people have to watch others do cool science tricks? Or DIY projects? Or even music lessons? And lastly, why do people watch overly-preppy and annoying people play video games? I don't get it.
plz come to starbucks im lonely
I slide the bar across the screen on my phone to reply Delilah, my best friend, who just happens to be dating the most annoying YouTuber.
dpends. is ian there?
nah. he had to rcrd
kay omw
I lock my phone after putting headphones in and opening the Music app.
I'm singing along to Clouds by Imagine Dragons when I reach my car.
"They say that London sounds like a city of red..."
About halfway to Starbucks, I get a text from Delilah saying: nvm ian's coming
UGH! This is my life!
I hate that gamer!

I couldn't back out of going to the cafè now, I was too far away from campus to go back. So when I walked into the shop with my earbuds in and laptop bag slung around my shoulder, I got a glare from Ian and a welcoming smile from Delilah. I don't know how she stands him.
"Kendall! Over here!" Delilah waves me over. I sit beside her, not giving Ian one glance.
After a few seconds of awkward silence, Delilah says, "Well?"
"Kendall." Ian say with disgust.
"Ian." I reply with equal verve. This receives a sigh from Delilah.
"Will you two ever get along?"
"Nope." We say in unison. By this time, I had already pulled out my laptop and started working on the essay that was due next week. Delilah tries to close the lid but I smack her hand.
"All you've been working on is stuff for school! Why don't you socialize?"
"I will never socialize with that." I nod my head to Ian without looking at him.
"Same for you." He says.
"Why do you have to be such an idiot?! You're not as funny as you think!!" I yell at him.
"And you're just so fun to be around yourself! Oh, look at me, I'm smarty biology-major Kendall Hunter!" He mimics me. We don't even notice Delilah leave as we continue quarelling.
After a tiring while of arguing with a brick wall, I pack up my things and leave without a word.
Big pile of horseshit he is.
