Kendall's POV

I storm into the orchestra hall, angry from my encounter with Ian.

As I walk by, Holly, one of the front violinists calls me.

"Kendall!" I turn on my heel. She's not a mean person, but she's not very likable person either. But I try to be nice to her.

"Yeah?"

"Can you help me?" I nod and she holds up her music, marked in all sorts of neon colors.

"This sign," she points to a coda, "means go back to here," she moves to a D.S. Al Coda, "Right?"

"Yeah, it does." She smiles at me.

"Thanks!"

"No prob."

I walk up the stairs to my place with the trombones. There's only two other players besides me.

"You look angry," says Brett, the first chair trombonist.

"I am." I sigh, opening my case.

"May I ask why?"

"You know that YouTuber I hate, right?"

"Yeah, that Ian guy."

"Mm-hmm. Delilah asked me to meet up with her at Starbucks, at first without him. Then he was there. We got in a huge argument." I play a Bb major scale to make sure I'm in tune.

"Okay. That sounds reasonable." I give him an annoyed look and turn back to shuffling around sheet music.

"Sorry I'm late!" Caribbean (CARE-IH-BE-AHN), the other trombonist and my roommate, comes. Brett and I snicker.

"You're not late Caribbean." Brett says.

"Yes I a- Oh, wait, my watch is wrong again." She furrows her eyebrows at her silver watch and tries to set it for the right time, causing Brett and I to start laughing.

"What?!" Caribbean says, half annoyed, half amused.

"Why don't you just use your phone?" I ask, still giggling.

"I dropped it again!" She holds up her Samsung, which has yet another crack in it.

"Man, we need to get you an Otter box for that thing." Brett says.

"NOO! OTTER BOXES ARE TOO FAT!" She goes back to adjusting her watch. This causes Brett and I to laugh even more.

You could pretty much tell Caribbean's personality just by looking at her hair: fiery red curls, really tight curls. They splay out all over her head, making her look like she doesn't take care of it. In reality, she spends about two hours or so on it every day.

She's also got really pretty emerald eyes that I swear literally sparkle when she's excited.

Brett is almost the complete opposite. He's mature, but can be silly and fun at times too. I've known him for a while, since my freshman year of high school. He's pretty much been my best guy-friend.

He's got reddish-blonde hair and blue eyes. He looks exactly like Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay. Just for kicks, I called him Chris Martin's twin a few times in our senior year. He kept denying it, so to this day, I call him Chris Martin's twin-in-denial. Now he just laughs and shakes his head when I call him that.

He's also a streamer on Twitch, which is somewhat tolerable because you can actually talk to streamers. YouTubers you just sit and watch. Or stand and watch. Whatever floats your boat.

I see Mrs. Murphy walk in and rap her conductor's stand with her baton. She's a pretty cruel music professor, but she teaches really well.

"Quiet! Quiet now!" The room becomes silent. "Good. Haydn's Surprise Symphony." She leaves us for a few minutes to warm up the piece.

I hear a clatter and look to my left to see that Brett has dropped his trombone on the French horn's stand. "Shit..." He mutters.

"Who was that?!" Demands Mrs. Murphy. Brett screws his lips.

"It was me, ma'am." He says.

She points at the door. "Out. Now."

"Yes, ma'am." He quickly puts away his instrument and leaves.

"Class!" Silence again. "One, two, three, start."
