Chapter 1: Rumor Has It

Uraraka's POV

The common area was relatively empty. I figured it'd be like that. After all, it's a Saturday morning. It was still really early, around 6:30. While turning on some of my favorite shows on the TV (with no one around to change the channel), I hopped onto the couch. The light green fabric was quite rough, but I didn't mind. I don't usually get this chance, since I can't afford a TV for my own room back at home, so I have to make the most out of it.

7 o'clock now. A couple people were already awake and out of their rooms. Deku was preparing to go visit his mom, which he does basically every week. I wanted to say hi to him, but I thought that I'd just be a bother. After all, he has so many more things to do. I've already made up my mind that I'm not going to have my feelings for him take over my life. Iida went to visit his brother at the hospital. He said that his brother was doing alright now, so that's good. The Hero Killer incident really affected him and so many more people.

It was a really lazy day for me. I didn't do much in the morning. At around noon, I felt like grabbing a snack somewhere in the city. I didn't want to go alone though, so I asked some of the girls if they wanted to come with me.

"Hey guys, any of you wanna grab a snack or something? We don't have much to do this weekend so I thought maybe we could do something fun together." I asked the girls.

Not all of the girls were there though. Yaomomo was probably visiting her family, and Hagakure wasn't around either.

"Oh, I'll go with you!" Ashido exclaimed as she raised her hand excitedly.

"Ok, great. I'd say we go get some Donuts at the mall nearby."

"Sure, let's go!"

Me and Ashido walked to the nearest mall. Usually we'd take the train, but we thought it'd be fun to explore the city on our way there. The streets were crowded, people all over the place. Merchants selling foods & souvenirs, couples going on dates, and children running around. Food stalls were all over the side walk. Honestly, I could barely contain myself from buying all of the food. The smell of fried chicken, grilled cheese, just spread through the air. It all looked so good. Me and Mina were running around, buying items, talking gossip & drama.

"Speaking of crushes, you like Deku don't you Uraraka?" Mina asked me in a playful tone.

Dammit.

I could already feel the blush rushing through my cheeks.

"Uh, wha- I mean, no!" I replied, embarrassed. Mina was already dead laughing at me, I nudged her on the elbow as a joke and joined her giggling.

She took a glance at me, just staring at blankly at my face for a few seconds, then suddenly her face lit up.

"Hey, I don't know if this is true or not," she paused, reluctant to tell me. "But I heard some gossip that involves you in it."

My curiosity peeked. "Tell me! Come on..." I said to her curiously.

"Don't know who started this rumor, and I trust you to not tell anyone I told you this..." Mina grinned and went near my ear to whisper to me, "But I heard somewhere that someone has a crush on you."

I stopped walking. Immediately, so many questions just started flowing through my head. Who, what, when, where, and also, why? I wanted to know immediately.

"Wanna know who?"

I was hesitant to answer, but my curiosity gave in.

"Yes!"

"Bakugo."

...

We got back to the dorms in the afternoon, it was worth the trip. We got what we went there for, which was donuts, and did a bunch of other things too. Me and Mina went to the carnival that was being held there and played some carnival games. Sadly, we didn't win anything, but it was still a bunch of fun. I also got a bunch of cool photos of us that we took at the photo booth.

Something strange happened that afternoon though.

I still couldn't stop thinking of what Mina told me earlier. Is that rumor really true? I've never thought of Bakugo as the romantic type. And I certainly never thought of our relationship romantically. The last major interaction I had with him was in the sports festival. Our battle was really infamous for Bakugo toying with the "frail little girl" (which was me). The battle was honestly extremely exciting. And most of all, I'm glad that he didn't hold back against me. At least I know that he has some sort of respect for me, even when everyone else thinks the opposite.

Maybe he's alright after all.

It was 1:00 pm. I was just in my dorm room, about to go outside out of boredom. I got in the lift to go to the common area to see if anyone else was downstairs. The atmosphere felt cold inside, and oddly quiet. Maybe no one's downstairs.

The elevator door opened and revealed the empty common area. The TV was off, and almost no one was in the room.

Almost.

Bakugo was there. He was playing on his phone, and holding 2 small pieces of paper. Lying down on the couch, with his phone above his face. He didn't even notice me at first. Then suddenly, he got up and turned around. His crimson eyes gazed at me, contrasting with his pastel blonde hair and pale skin. For some reason, I'm only just now seeing how beautiful his face really was.

I didn't notice I was spacing out, until he spoke.

"Hey round face! You free tonight?" Bakugo asked me with his usual aggressive tone.

I felt like I was blushing, but I really didn't want it to show.

"Um, yea..." I answered while frantically playing with my caramel colored hair. "Why?"

Bakugo stood up and walked to my direction. "I was gonna go watch a movie with Kirishima tonight, but turns out some other things got in the way, so he couldn't come."

I just stared blankly at his face. Ugh, I was spacing out again. I didn't say anything, and a few moments of silence.

"Don't you get my point? I got an extra ticket for a movie tonight and I don't want the money to be wasted." He exclaimed. "So you wanna go watch?"

Is he asking me on a date? Maybe the rumor was true after all. My heart was beating faster and faster, until I had the courage to answer.

"Yea, sure."

It was another few moments of silence, then Bakugo handed me the movie ticket. "Meet me at the mall nearby, 6 pm. The usual theater."

He turned his back and walked to the elevator, pressing the up button. A few seconds later and the door opened. He got inside the elevator and the door closed behind him, leaving only me in the common area.

Once I was sure he was gone, I could feel myself blushing; heart racing. Looks like I'm going on a date with Bakugo tonight.
