Wow. This school looks amazing. I bet people are super smart here, all in uniform and in a private school. Oof. I hope I live up to expectations here too. I put down my bag next to the bathroom and stairs and walk around to try to figure out what is happening.

"Excuse me miss, but what are you doing roaming around in the hallways?" asked a teacher.

"Oh, ummm... I'm new here..." I stammered.

My name is Sarah, and today is my first day of school here in a new state. It feels so unusual to not be recognized by anyone and not know what to do. In my old school, everyone knew me. I had several nicknames. Lil' Princess, Girl Andrew, Bounce. I was a student in my old school for 4 years and had grown so accustomed to the laid back attitude of the teachers who knew that I already knew everything they had to teach in the subject. To move to a new school and be treated like never before is something I have to get used to.

"Oh! A new student. How wonderful! Do you want someone to show you around?" she asked.

"Actually, yes. That would be wonderful." I sighed in relief.

"Alright. For now, we have assembly. We have assembly every morning at 7:45. Each grade is split into two different groups. Group A and B. You are in 8th grade and because you are new, you will be in 8A. 8A is on the left side of 8B. Go sit down with the rest of the girls in line and wait until assembly is over. Afterwards, I will give you your schedule and give you a student guide to show you around. It may be a bit difficult to adjust to, but this school is very welcoming. I hope you find joy and the right friends coming here!"

I nodded to her and thanked her for her help and sat down. I couldn't help but look at each of their faces. Some were beautiful, some looked intelligent, and some looked like people from my old school. Then I scanned the room to look at everyone else.

One boy in a group of others caught my eye. He was also in 8th grade, but he sat in the boy's line and was in 8B. He looked shy, but at the same time confident. He stood straight but looked down at his lap looking deep in thought. Dark brown hair that lightly brushed over his eyes. Flawless skin. A light smile. Hmmm. He's cute.
