Heavy chuckles came out from Kris' mouth, as they brandished the knife. They put it up to their face, staring longingly at the shine on its blade. The moon stayed behind Kris in its rightful place, the night sky. It had become so bright at this time, it made the knife look even brighter than it was supposed to be. It had been so long since Kris finally regained control of their own body, and they can finally enjoy the pleasure of making their own choices.
Noises of metal being clattered rung out nearby Kris, which had interrupted their trance. Their eyes slowly glided over to the old birdcage laying slanted in the red wagon. If one would pay attention enough, they'd notice the paint starting to chip off. Inside the birdcage, there was Kris'..no..that's not their SOUL. That's someone else's. The blood red SOUL kept banging itself against the bars, it's red glow illuminating the small area around it. Kris sighed, clearing their throat lightly as they were about to get the SOUL's attention.
"If you keep doing that, you'll wake mom up."
The SOUL immediately turned to Kris, and had stopped moving for the next few seconds. Ever since the SOUL possessed Kris, they didn't here their voice at all. This was mainly because the SOUL didn't have the capability of speech, and only could get Kris to nod and shake their head. Sometimes, they had been ironically grateful for being told that they had 'no choice' in conversations. "And we both wouldn't want that to happen, would we?" Kris continued, walking over the birdcage with the knife in hand. They kneeled to the SOUL's height, as it slinked away to the back of the birdcage in fear of Kris' current potential.
"You know," Kris chuckled midway through their sentence. "I could kill you right here and right now. Nobody would know either." They showed the SOUL the knife, going as far as poking its blade in between two of the bars, but not close to the SOUL itself. "But..I won't." Kris lowered the knife down, which the SOUL went a bit closer to them when they did that. "But it must be pretty bad, huh? Not having control of something? Well, that's exactly how I feel when you're controlling me." They pointed accusingly at the SOUL for two seconds, before putting their hand down. "Then again, you need a vessel, don't you? Yet this vessel had no choice for your shenanigans, and now you have no vessel to control. All I could do was scream for help..for someone to hear me as you were walking around, greeting everyone as it was a normal thing to do."
"But it wasn't normal. At least not for me."
"And while we were in the Dark World..don't think I hadn't noticed that name every time you saved your progress. Sure, ̷̧̨̨͍͈̝̭̟̊̏͆ ̷̢͇̼̥̻̂͂͊̒ ̴̙̜͍͙̹͖̟̓͒̈́̌̽̊ͅ ̵̨̮̙̱̜̳͕̼͚̈̐̇̄͊̊̋̿̃̕͝ ̶̢̹̪̙͕̺̞͍̰͋͗ ̷͍͙̗͙͎̞͎̠̼̬̩̀͐̀͑͝ ̴͚͔̦͕̭̙̆̈́̅͑̅͂͜͜ ̸̡̣̖̥̣̙̥̓̉͌͋́̅̏̚͠ ̷̢̭̐ͅ ̵̡̢̹͎͎̦̯͚͇̐͒ ̸͔͗̿̈́͊̃͆̐̂̀̎͝ ̷̡̠͇̞̺̠̺̙̙̒̀̓̊͑̇̀͝ ̸̹̯̭̜̞͊ ̷̢̠͌́ ̶̤͓̯̫̦̦̩͛͛̒̀̍̃͜ may be a nice name, but it's not my name." Kris raised their voice for those last few words, and it had gone quiet for the next few moments, until the clanking came back. The SOUL was still trying to escape the birdcage, this time at a much faster rate. "You can't get out there, you know. There's no point in trying." The SOUL had possibly ignored Kris or hadn't heard them, as they continued to bang itself against the metal bars. Kris was quickly annoyed by the repetitive noise, and banged their fist on top of the cage. The SOUL froze, and swerved as close to Kris as they could. "It's the middle of the night, so quiet down. Loud people piss me off." The SOUL hovered up and down in a quick motion, almost as they were trying to nod their head in agreement. Kris sighed, regaining their composure.
"This isn't over, you know. I have..many questions. Why are you doing this, who are you, why did the vessel have to be..me? But I suppose you can't answer, huh?" They dipped their head back down, sighing in defeat. They got back up, walking back to their dresser and setting the knife inside one of the cabinets. "I just wanted to talk to you about that." They then grabbed a large, white, and very dusty blanket from under their bed, heading towards the birdcage. "Don't think I'm letting you out anytime soon. Which means I can't let anyone see you." They draped the birdcage with the blanket, the SOUL's glow faintly showing up even from behind the blanket. While Kris walked away, a quick buzzing sound was heard from the birdcage, grabbing their immediate attention. "Now what do you want?"
A female voice rung out. It wasn't from the SOUL itself, but it was coming from them, if that even makes sense.
'When the light is running low'
Despite the permanent glare over Kris' face, their eyes widened. They slowly headed over the blanket-covered birdcage, taking off the blanket.
'And the shadows start to grow'
There was the SOUL, glowing brighter than it ever could. Almost a quarter of the room was illuminated, but Kris just stood and stared.
'And the places that you know'
This song felt so familiar to Kris, but it didn't at the same time. They'd expect the last person to also know this song was their controller themselves. This may not even be what their controller sounds like, so it could just be some type of recording.
'Seem like fantasy'
'There's a light inside your soul'
'That's still shining in the cold'
'With the truth'"The promise in our hearts.." Kris quietly muttered, still looking down at the SOUL. They knew this song was familiar at some point, but where had they heard it before?
'Don't forget'
Of course, Toriel had sung this to them sometimes when they were either sad or hurt. Despite it not doing anything, it still made Kris better to some extent.
"I'm with you.."
'In the dark'The large glow stopped, decreasing the light is shone back to its normal radius. Kris looked back at their dresser cabinet hesitantly, before heading towards it. They opened the cabinet again, taking out the knife. The SOUL immediately slid to the back of the cage, which Kris noticed once they walked over to it with their knife in hand. "This is for something different."
"That song. That song is really..special to me."
"I know we both most likely hate each other but.."
"Do you like pie?"
And the SOUL hovered back and down yet again. Obviously, the SOUL could not eat. At least not without controlling Kris to at least give the illusion that whoever controlling the SOUL was eating. Yet even still, despite any current knowledge if the SOUL enjoys pie, Kris exhaled in relief watching it hover."Alright." Kris grabbed the birdcage by its handle, the SOUL flinching upwards a bit because of the sudden leverage. It turned to Kris, who had the smallest smile planted on their face. They looked down at the SOUL, opening their room door. "Let's be careful to not wake her up."
