The airport felt like Courtney's third home, between the hospital and her actual apartment.

Being in her second year of her residency as a surgeon at Toronto Mercy, she was always traveling to seminars and training functions across Canada and the US.

So the whole airport process wasn't necessarily a drag for her, unlike some of her travel companions.

She had hoped that Duncan would keep up his usual lack of punctuality and somehow miss the flight, but to her dismay, he was there with his duffle bag, waiting at the beginning of the security checkpoint with DJ.

"Claim any souls today?" He snickers, standing behind her as they wait to show their boarding passes and passports to the security personnel.

"No, but it's still early." She smiles unkindly and he smirks right alongside her.

He is definitely attractive, that much she has never denied. If only he wasn't such a piece of shit.

With the help of some earplugs and a headrest, she's able to catch some sleep on the plane.

Thankfully, DJ sat in between her and Duncan, so she didn't have to deal with his pestering the whole way.

{A/N: okay so in REAL life, to get to Honolulu from Toronto would take a RIDICULOUSLY long amount of time ...I know this but for my story's sake ...we're going to act like it's only like 2.5 hours . Okay? Okay. }

Hawaii's beautiful scenery and energy seemed to lighten the mood, at least on her end. She resolved she would enjoy this trip if it was the last thing she did.

That meant even when her and Duncan were crammed in the very back of the van on the way to the resort, she didn't balk. Nor did she when the guy practically threw her luggage carelessly out said van and onto the asphalt.

And how does the universe repay her?

"Okay so there's been an...issue with the rooms.." Bridgette says, coming back up to the group.

Courtney felt her stomach start to churn.

"It looks like they accidentally double booked one of the rooms. While they normally could clear it up, all their other rooms are taken and the guests have already settled in."

Courtney crossed her arms. "Okay so what are we going to do?"

Bridgette bites her lip. "Well...that means someone is going to have to crash with us. We need to figure out who, so the hotel can send up a cot to our room."

Courtney sighed. She really didn't want to sleep on a cot.

This is so not how she imagined her tropical vacation going.

"I can take the cot." DJ piped up and Courtney felt relieved, if only for a second.

Pause!

Gwen and Trent in one room. Bridgette and Geoff in the other, with DJ on a cot because their room was the biggest.

That only meant one thing.

"Looks like we're gonna be roomies, princess." Duncan said, snickering.

"Actually on second thought, DJ I'll-" DJ turned to look at her yet she stopped mid sentence when Duncan began dragging her suitcase.

"What was that Court?"

She opened her mouth, partially to yell at Duncan and the other to answer DJ.

"Nothing! She was just saying how excited she was to be here. Where's that room key, Geoff?"

To Courtney's horror and bafflement, every single one of her friends just went along with him. Picking up their bags, and shuffling towards the elevator.

She practically burned holes into Bridgette's skull as they walked. As soon as they settled in and started upwards, Bridgette leaned in.

"Hey, it's not ideal for either of us. I wasn't planning on having a roommate during our stay either. So much for vacation sex.." She said tiredly.

Courtney bit the inside of her cheek. Bridgette was complaining about not being able to fuck her boyfriend, meanwhile she was over here having a whole crisis.

She glanced over to the other side where Duncan was talking with Geoff, gripping her suitcase tightly, almost as if he knew if she got a hold of it, she would make a last minute switcharoo.

One might think he was into her, and that's why he was pressing so hard for her to room with him. But Courtney knew the truth: he just wanted to irritate her to no end, his favorite pastime.

Fucking asshole.

"So much for a vacation..." She muttered.

A/N:

You guys it's been sooooooo long since I've actually updated one of my stories. I've gotten into a new relationship, was working up until recently and it's just been a hectic ride!!! But with this quarantine going on, I figured I have no excuse for not updating lol. so here's another update to this short fic. The original plan was for this to have five chapters, but I'm thinking that I'm probably gonna have to extend it because of where we're at in the story and we're only on chapter two so far. We'll see. Hope everyone is doing well, and as always, thank you for your support.
